Sythrin Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Brandon mentioned that to get the powers of an Elantrian through hemalurgic spike, you would need to spike 1, for the power and 2 for the connection to Sel or the AonDor or whatever. Its not entirely clear if it is possible to spike a person multible times, to steal something from them. So far we have not seen it and it is more implied that it is not possible, but with the development of the metalic arts, who knows? So if you would spike 2 different Elantrians and take from one the power and from the other the connection, would you have identity contamination problems?
Qianweilian He/him Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Probably, but you could try to get another Elantrian to store connection in a medallion.

BigBadBagsworth He/him/his Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 (edited) I second that. The whole point of Hemalurgy is that you're just taking one part of someone's soul and pinning it to your own. But if yes... this could be the reason why inquisitors can't compound: since their spikes come from different people, the feruchemical charge gets tainted in a way the allomancy can't use. The Set scientists in Lost Metal found out a way to spike people without killing them, didn't they? Seems to me that as more research goes into that spiking the same person multiple times should become possible. I think there's a WoB out there somewhere saying it's not thought to be possible to steal multiple attributes from the same target, but that was before it was known that you can keep the target alive which changes things. 1
