Adonalsium could be a splinter.

Just a theory I have, but so as far as I know, Brandon hasn’t confirmed or denied the existence of a greater being than Adonalsium. There are people all over the Cosmere talking about the “God Beyond”. Worldhoppers and Cosmere scholars who have been around at the time of Adonalsium could have influenced or even encouraged the idea of a “God Beyond”. Now what if Adonalsium is just a Splinter of this “God Beyond?” Well, we have maps and charts of the Cosmere, and I personally think it looks too small for an entire universe. What if whatever Adonalsium was splintered off of, exists outside the Cosmere. What do you guys think? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I always interpreted The God Beyond as more of a spiritual idea than an actual tangible God who could be splintered. Brandon has said there is a canon answer as to whether or not there is a true God Beyond, he just won’t share it. Considering his faith and the way it majorly influences his writing, I think the God Beyond does probably exist, we just don’t really know in what form. As for The Cosmere not being a galaxy, it has been confirmed it’s just a star cluster. We also know at least one person or being in the Cosmere has tried to leave the star system and we don’t know if they were able to or not.

Good points! It’ll be pretty cool to eventually piece together some more solid theories! What do you think Adonalsium’s origins are? Any insight about the Dawnshards?

I’ve read the everything that’s come out in the mistborn collection, everything Stormlight archive, except WaT, and I’ll start that one soon. I’ve also read Sixth of the Dusk, Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Heck, and some excerpts of white sand. No elantris or warbreaker yet. Hopefully soon.

In WaT there is some more info on Cosmere gods but it sort of raises more questions than answers

As for Dawnshards, in the novella we learn that they’re what Adonalsium used to create the Cosmere. It seems like each Dawnshard has a unique command with the one Rysn picks up being “Change” and another being “Exist”. We don’t know what the last two are right now. It’s also unclear if Adonalsium created the Dawnshards himself or if they already existed and he just used them.

If they already existed that is more proof of a god beyond Adonalsium, but that’s a pretty big if. Thanks!
