Honestly it probably should be a creature of anti-Investiture, like the entities, but that's a spoiler and would make the whole thread emberdark spoiler.

Anyways, the entities don't get obliterated by the intensier, so id be surprised if the Maw does.

It would probably work

I'd be surprised if it does.

And technically, the anti-investiture would never touch the maw. You can't reach the singularity.

yet the normal investiture would?

no

but it would be *in* the black hole- beyond the event horizon.

So its not invested?

The investiture involved in the star and the blackholes creation would be in there, since it's the matter that makes the singularity itself.

So if I can't kill it with anti-investiture, I'll just use antimatter instead

hm.

Okay so I don't think I understood the physics well enough, but here's what reddit suggests.

You can throw in the antimatter, and it would probably blow something up, but nothing would never actually leave the black hole. According to Reddit, the energy created during the reaction would go into the blackhole and increase.

I'd assume it's similar enough to investiture, but honestly, I have no idea.

An antimatter black hole would probably kill both, and sterilize half the galaxy in the process

An antimatter blackhole is just a blackhole. They'd merge into a bigger blackhole.

(anyway half the galaxy is alread steralized)

It's actually not very good. It's just a few sentences. How capable of thinking is the power right now?

It doesn't have too much influence just yet. But still has an effect.

Meh. If the blackhole isn't destroyed it will go around destroying other worlds

The black hole is slow and space is big. However, in the grand scheme of things, 20 or even 100 years isn't that much. If everything goes smoothly, this RP should continue for thousands of years.

Theoretically, one could do a mega time dilation acceleration thing until Hawking Radiation turns it to nothing, but that’s probably like a thousand year commitment, along with other notable scruples.

A thousand years?

No, it'll take a thousand times the current age of the universe. Actually, even that's not true.

I found some calculators, it's somewhere around 10^70 years if the black hole is 5 solar masses. So, even with time dilation, it'll take a while.

So, you see, because this ordinary black holes don't consume Investiture (there's a WoB), the majority of this black hole's Investiture exists outside the singularity. So, anti-Investiture could actually work. It would not kill the black hole itself, but it would lose sentience and it would just become a normal black hole.

Don’t worry, mein freund, tis merely an expression to mean ‘a really long time’

Hmm... perhaps we should allow a seed to come, and then we can rip it apart to get the investiture of Virtuosity so that Scadrial's labs can start manufacturing anti-investiture

You'd have to contain the seeds first.

Questioner

What would happen if a Herald fell into a black hole?

Brandon Sanderson

Investiture is going to respond to a black hole, maybe not in exactly the same way as light and matter, but in a similar way. It's going to crush them, pull them in, hold them. Their soul will probably still be… there’ll be some cognitive remnant in the Cognitive Realm, depending on how the black hole is manifesting there, which we haven't gotten into yet. So, what would happen? Let's quote Halle Berry from X-Men: “What happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning? Same as everything else.” Basically, the same thing that happens to everything else. The question is, would their immortality remain? Yes, asterisk.

https://wob.coppermind.net/events/540/#e16750

are you referring to this WOB? It does trap investiture, it seems, and especially with the whole all three realms at once thing going on- even the cognitive remnant will be stuck inside.

The seeds landing will have consequences for your investiture cycles.

Killing them after that will also have consequences. BAM style.

Yeah it was that one.

The Investiture is trapped, but not in the singularity. So it doesn't become charge-less. It's still positive Investiture, and you can give it anti-Investiture to make it un-Invested. Of course, the anti-Investiture Investiture reaction will give the black hole more energy, but it'll just be an ordinary black hole floating in space then.

Also, @Born of Mist is joining. @IcedOutPenguin, are you fine with giving up Preservation?

I mean it could- I think Nightblood could feed on anti investiture.

I don't think so. Nightblood would either explode or cause an explosion.

It turns into smoke before it enters it.

No, Nightblood does eat some of the Investiture. And if it's anti-Investiture, there will be an explosion.

He metabolises it

Spoiler

The entities manage to not explode, and they're fine.

Blaarfg I hate how relevant this book is.
