ok so I don’t know how many of you play in marching especially a brass or percussion instrument but if you do you HAVE to watch some DCI performances my personal favorites are

also check out their websites there might be a performance near you also the bands will be posting audition material at the end of August for anyone from 15 to 22 I’m going to try to make it next year I’ve heard great things abt it and even if you don’t play a instrument you can try out on it’s still a amazing thing to watch so you guys should check it out

Ok so it depends on your goals bc both are great instruments but if your just doing this for fun it’s a lot easier to find violin teachers than viola teachers butttt if your planning on possibly continuing this into a career it’s a lot easier to get college scholarships on viola but in the end i recommend just finding somewhere where you can test out both and pick the one you like more

The thing about viola is that no one will ever get what you are talking about unless they play viola or they are a person who plays an instrument and has a viola buddy who yaps constantly about their instrument.

*Cough*

But they both do have amazing sounds and are good for different things (Violins for fiddling, solos, etc. and violas for the mobility + rich sound) so we will support you in anything you choose
