I also read the Hobbit today yesterday!

Here's an iambic pentameter sonnet I wrote about LotR to celebrate:

Spoiler

Once, long ago, an evil Ring was made;

But strange and fateful chance drove it to light

That one small halfling, tiny and afraid,

This Evil had to end through power’s might.

This task he undertook for Greater Good;

His servant joined him out of friendship strong.

Through ebbing mind and soul and will they stood

Together, daunting though the path and long.

To journey’s end they came in hunger sore;

And he who bore the Ring was worn and weak.

But in the end, the Evil lost the war;

For Mercy is the best ideal to seek.

But triumph rarely hasn’t any price;

The halfling’s soul was vict’ry’s sacrifice.

YAY. What is anyone's favourite Tolkien thing they've read?

I'mma be real lame and boring and say... Lord of the Rings. I don't know, it's just... the most polished and most emotional, I guess?? Admittedly I haven't read everything he wrote though.

If I could ask Tolkien one random question

I would ask

What in the world did Frodo say when his neighbors or any person from his home asked what happened to his finger? Did he try to explain? Did he just make up something? I want to know

Probably just "Oh, it's a long story" and then staring into nothingness with empty eyes until they finally leave.

"Lost it in a hiking accident 😔. Yeah there was this really angry possum . . . Sam wrestled it off me in time, but not before it made it's mark."
