PART ONE; BIRIMANCY AND DEFINISM
Birimancy is the main magic system of one of my novels; however, there are two ways to understand it; one which requires WAY too much explanation on lore and the likes, history, and mechanics of the magic system itself, and the Spoilerless one, the belief of the common person within the world, and the best they have to go on. Guess which one I will be outlining;

The Spoilerless one!

To start with... What is Birimancy?

Birimancy is, again, the primary Magic System on the planet D'Ledias, using elements to create replicas of elements and alter natural ones.

Birimancy ties heavily into Definism, a star-based religion, as well as the largest one. Below is the Pantheon, along with their associated Magic if they have one;

SUNDHIA -

Spoiler

God of the Harvest, Change, and Trickery. Associated with animals that fly such as birds and butterflies. People often worship this god during balls and events with plays and shows in his name, in hopes of a good harvest season. Sundhia is associated with the cycle of Day and Night, and thus is the god of Light and Shadow Magic.

SYPHUS -

Spoiler

Goddess of relation and passion, associated with most wild predators, most prevalent being foxes, wolves, cats, etc. Syphus is generally seen as a very benevolent goddess, bestowing luck to those who simply show gratitude to her. As such, she is seen as the goddess of Luck, as well as the goddess of Fire Magic.

RANNAZEN or RANNA -

Spoiler

Goddess of life, as well as energy, being seen as the goddess of storms. Her name itself translates directly to an ancient word for "Mother of the Storm's Life". People have associated the likes of rabbits and bears with her, some smaller individual churches also attribute cats to her instead of Syphus. Ranna is said to be the goddess of Lightning Magic.

TEBERIA -

Spoiler

God of fields, of prosperity, and cleanliness. When one has a disease, its wise to send a prayer to Teberia in hopes of a speedy recovery. People tend to send prayers by sending a small part of their harvest down a river, believing that part of it is sent into the spirit world, and the others arrive to those in need. Animals such as deer, squirrels, and the third one which clearly fits into the mix; trees, are often associated with Teberia. He is also considered to be the god of Earth and Water Magic

LIZEMON -

Spoiler

The demon, the evil, and blight of the world. Lizemon, obviously, is not a worshipped being, and to show any light to it is blaspheme of the highest degree. Death, and weirdly portals are associated with Lizemon, due to a tale called "The King and The Demon" where a king banishes Lizemon into Madness (Their Hell), where Lizemon opens portals to Madness, with the King sending it into one of its own portals. Worms, Owls, and Snakes are often feared creatures, with the belief that their yellow eyes (As that happens to be their in-world eye color) are the lookingglasses of Lizemon. Any yellow eyes are too seen in this manner.

SEFTEGAN or SEFTE -

Spoiler

God of the song, sounds, muses, and liberation. Seen as the embodiment of what it means to be free, enjoying oneself. Jovality, and freedom are called his gifts quite often, believing that without him, there would be no joy in the world. Goats, Geese, and Fish (all of them.) are seen in his light, and keeping them in any confined space is seen as a sin (Though domesticating goats and having them stay within a certain area is fine, so long as there's no true barrier preventing them from leaving) Festivals are thrown in Sefte's name, with one of the most notable being the Whitemoon festival at the end of every year (Which would technically be every four years in an earth perspective)

MONO -

Spoiler

The king of Time, seen as the father of humanity, and the creator of time itself. The ability to grow is seen as a result of his influence. Said to have created time from his own ashes, picking up his own corpse and burning it as a sacrifice (This is left very vague even in the most detailed mythos) Humans themselves, along with the in-world non-existent, yet still revered Phoenix are associated with Mono. However, despite this, Mono is not the most revered being.

PERSONA or THE CREATOR PEROS -

Spoiler

The creator, said to have created everything, the universe itself. The existence of all Magic is associated to Persona. Creation, Gifting, and Generosity are too said to have come from Persona, as its own selflessness created all things. Stars are associated with Persona, with it being said that it creates constelations from the fallen warriors born under the other god's stars. Stargazing is a very common practice, many homes have at least one roof with a glass dome to see the stars, and prayer is to happen in such rooms, or under an open sky. Saying "Persona" or "The Creator Peros" are the only two proper ways to say its name, as simply "Peros" is deemed too formal, and thus lightly sinful.

Now that the pantheon is out of the way, the Magics themselves, along with in-world terms. Each Magic in world has a name derived from an old, dead language (that physically cannot be spoken properly. Despite this, it was spoken properly in the past. Nobody knows how. They all up and died one night. Funky.)

Fire Magic/Varamancy

Spoiler

Fire Magic is the highest risk/reward Magics there is, as it runs several risks in using it. It creates flames, sparks, and explosions depending on the amount of Mana coursed into expelling something. If the user's body is not prepared for the level of flames they expel, they may faint, or worse-scorch themself. Often times, a junior Varamancer will be tasked with creating sparks with a snap, building up gradually until the sparks no longer bother them, which is when they finally begin conjuring flames. Varamancy is also one of the most feared, due to the crimes of a woman dubbed "The Promethean" (In world she'd be called something like "Gesandray Varagan", which translates to roughly "The Divine Gift of the Fire of God"), and her act of causing an explosion so large it wiped an entire city off the map without causing even a scratch to herself, though claims may be exaggerated.

Water Magic/Swaimancy

Spoiler

Water Magic tends to surprise non-Birimancers with how useless it might sound. Despite this, Water Magic can be used to vastly destabilize a structure, and lightly manipulate a Birimancer's gravity, allowing them to do seemingly impossible physical acrobatic feats. Water Magic also allows the user to dilute a substance, and is more often than not used by tavernkeeps to dilute alcohol a bit. It should be noted that drinking water made via Swaimancy provides no hydration to the body, as stated at the start, these elements are a replica of the target element, not a true manifestation. Varamancy and Flanamancy are the only two things capable of creating more of the target element, but the source itself is not real. However-drinking Swaimancy-born water will immediately grant the one who drank it with mana, a little less than that which was used to make the mana. This is a rudimentary way to allow one to instantly gain mana, though more efficient ways exist (they will be listed later)

Earth Magic/Rebamancy

Spoiler

Earth Magic is fairly close range compared to everything else, but that doesn't take away from its strength. It can be considered the opposite to Water Magic, being able to fortify the strength of structures instead. Additionally, Earth Magic primarily focuses on the manipulation of existing minerals rather than creation-though it can be conjured. Generally, Rebamancers will either conjure stones onto existing objects-one example being a character who creates arrowheads out of his magic, allowing him to create arrows as he needs, as well as modify them to any situation-or move the rock/earth beneath or around them to fit the situation, such as causing a massive bit of rock to pop from the ground into a barrier, or launch themselves into the air via shifting the ground below them upwards very fast.

Lightning Magic/Dizarmancy

Spoiler
Spoiler

Lightning Magic tends to focus highly on speed, and is extremely powerful when one knows how to aim. Lightning Magic has one stark difference between all other forms of Birimancy-it can self-persist at long ranges so long as its origin is maintained. If the Dizarmancer supplies a constantly stream of Mana while expelling it (generally from the hand), they can create a constant beam from them to their target. Even when not doing this, it can create extremely fast beams of Lightning wherever the user desires. Lightning casted at an extremely long range tends to have a very weird effect, if the user is running in a straight line and casts a beam diagonally, due to relative velocity, it should continue on the path it was casted, however anything casted with Lightning Magic seems to try to mimic the user in some way, so instead of continuing along the diagonal path, the lightning will try to curve in the direction the Dizarmancer is running.

Light Magic/Flanamancy

Spoiler

Light Magic is an extremely off-beat Magic compared to everything else. Flanamancers can rarely ever do anything physical with Light Magic, with it only having two implications, one being the bigger focus. The lesser focus is manipulating light itself around the user, allowing minor illusions to take place, such as making one's body slightly transparent, or creating a small bit of light to illuminate the area. This can be used expertly, but is not the main usage of this magic, that would be Luxegos. Luxegos are sentient constructs of light created by the user. They can be given tasks, retrieve items, and if the Flanamancer has enough Mana and control over their usage, can think for themselves. Often, younger Flanamancers will create their Luxegos in the shape of animals, bonding with it and allowing it to form its own personality. Even if the Luxego's mana is severed, it can still be perfectly recreated assuming it wasn't destroyed with any Mana-absorbing metal (called Batalsteel). If a Flanamancer is adept enough, they can have multiple Luxegos, with each having their own distinctions and such. Luxegos can have semi-corporeal forms that allow them to interact with light objects, and can retreave items or aid in mundane tasks. Extremely advanced Flanamancers can create Luxegos fully capable of speech, and even in the shape of humanoid beings. These Luxegos are capable of enough thought they would be capable of deviating from a direct order given by the user if they thought it would aid better in the order. It should be noted, a Luxego cannot betray its user, or have a mindset too different from them. Luxegos are also a special case in all of Birimancy, due to the fact that if the Flanamancer dies without 'de-summoning' the Luxego, said Luxego will begin to wander in a 'rabid' state, attempting to attack anyone who approaches it with the deadliest of things such as; small sticks, small rocks, maybe throwing some leaves at you. They can be put out of their misery by using Batalsteel on them.

Shadow Magic/Janimancy

Spoiler
Spoiler

Shadow Magic is also a mild deviation. Shadow Magic focuses entirely on the creation of shadowy objects. Most often, this is tendrils. Janimancers can create pretty much any object smaller than themselves out of their Magic, though most opt to use tendrils, as it allows for the completion of most things. Combat-wise, people will often create ranged weaponry, or wrap their limbs in a cloak of shadow tendrils, allowing more 'springy' movement than usual. Janimancers in combat tend to be far more reckless, as there's always the subconscious knowledge in their head telling them they can recreate their own limbs from their shadows.

Hypobiria/Biriris

Spoiler
Spoiler

A weakness, partial, or complete lack of one's magic. This is primarily why I'm not going into the full explanation on Birimancy because THIS somehow ends up being one of the most mechanical parts of this Magic System. In the common belief, those with Hypobiria are seen as rejected by the gods, refusing to bestow the individual with their Magic either partially or fully. Though birth is the most common way one doesn't have magic, other ways exist, mostly by damage coming to the soul (I'm not getting into it.)

Now; earlier in the Swaimancy section I mentioned a 'more efficient' way existing, what did that refer to?

Spoiler

Drugs! Kinda.

On D'Ledias, a type of flower exists which only blooms in extremely specific environments. The Batalbloom.

1) The flower must grow from Batalsteel imbued with more Mana it can handle

2) The flower cannot be growing in an environment with Mana in the air (99% of the world)

3) The Batalsteel must have some mana put into at least every other day.

Despite this, people have created greenhouses capable of growing them, making small Batalsteel chambers with glass ceilings, allowing the flower to get sunlight, be in an environment without Mana (due to the Batalsteel absorbing it anyway, and the flower not needing oxygen to grow), and have easy access for the Batalsteel to be imbued. If you couldn't guess, the Mana itself is growing the flower, and the flower is dense with Mana.

Batalbloom is used to make a substance called Birium, a fluid which rapidly regenerates a Birimancer's Mana when used, however if overdosed, the Mana can become too much and will kill the user. A Batalbloom averages around five petals, and a single petal is capable of dropping even the highest capacity individuals. So, the petals will be extracted, ground up, and drowned in water, the pulverized petals dilute into the water, and turn it into Birium. One petal can make anywhere from 10-25 vials of Birium depending on the efficiency desired, though in rare cases, a petal will be put into a single vial, and used for an extremely dangerous application of Birimancy for only the highest of skill, and most confident of users. This technique is called Overclocking, where the user will drink the Birium and constantly output Mana at a rate equal to how fast their Mana is regenerating. If the Birimancer slows down even for a second, they're likely to die.

believe that's all I can say without getting into both advanced/spoiler territory. Ciao
