Can We Talk About the Americas?

I know I'm already about a year late to this topic, but something that occurred to me recently was that in the Frugal Wizard's Handbook, it specifically states that these worlds were less developed (not actually time travelling) but to not go to the Americas. I understand not wanting to cause the colonization event again, but is it possible that it was just Afroeurasia that wasn't as technologically advanced? As far as we know the Americas could have figured out certain technologies on their own through their own development - they could have made steel tools and weapons, built the American continent equivalent of the Silk Road, or done some other feasible thing such as finding an alternative to gunpowder.

That makes sense! I didn't catch that detail, but It stands to reason that, like in the real-world, different regions develop at different rates.
