Shane checked his zipline. He'd made it from a cable, from the small nook where he lived to one of the outer ruins. The buildings had fallen into ruin, this circle becoming where he stayed. His home was in the middle structure, with walls of other ruins surrounding it. He rode the rope to the top of the outer structure to get a closer look.

He sees a relatively small ship, compared to some, but still about the size of a small house. There is a ramp opened at the tail end.

Not to be basic refusing-to-use-metric-system but because it's the only way I can visualize, about four football fields. And one football field vertically.
