Ok maybe…but they had acrobatic fight scenes (THAT WEREN’T CGI *COUGHCOUGHEP3*) which is basically the best part. Also at least issues with the sequels didn’t interfere with the established film universe plot like forgetting to pick up Anakin’s lightsaber…

But the fight scenes sucked butt. At least in the prequels they actually faught irl and used greenscreen. The most iconic fights and best ones are from prequels. Like bro I swear that those actors don't know how to fight because I could bear them easy. Humph.

so i'm sick, and i stayed home today, and i don't know if i'm going to stay home again tomorrow (probably, i haven't slept well in a while because when i cough at night, it makes it so the most i can sleep in one go is one hour), so i procrastinated on homework at now it's 10:15 at night and I haven't started ugh and my mom might come in my room and give me the whole "you are nearly an adult, you need to be better at not procrastinating" speech, anyways yeah lose age reveal gasp i'm still in school. surprise. at this point i trust y'all

It's really good though! Just a little tragic, but so are like most of brandon's books lol. Unfortunately, Voltron was taken off netflix, and other than a bunch of CDs my mom bought online of seasons 3-6 that i will fight hordes of undead to keep, I don't know where to watch it...

allura...

listen on the bright side of procrastination, i can now do space buns in my hair!!

mentally i'm fine, and by that i mean academically-mentally, not emotionally-mentally, and it's funny how slowly your emotional mental health begins to affect your academic mental health i hate this no why is my brain turning on meeeeeeeee i've been betrayed

*hugs*

None of the people in any of the Star Wars movies fight well, from a true combat standpoint

When fighting with a lightsaber its different from any form of sword fighting because, a, it's a circle so it's sharp on all edges, b, it's a laser. And also they use the force and have different gravity.

Ig I remember correctly the best fighter was either Ewan McGregor or Hayden Christensen.

This is true, but they just swing them around, there are no efficient lines or strategies

Even accounting for the fact that there is no real force required to cut, it’s still not effective. Plus they typically only use the Force when they need a breather.

Yes there is. I learned it... Mostly. In rebels you even see part of their training holovideos.

Sorry, let me rephrase. That’s not to say there aren’t any, and lightsabers themselves could be very effective weapons. It’s the use of them and the combat as depicted in the movies that I have issue with.

One of the most effective and simple strategies would be to just briefly turn off your saber to bypass a block, which I believe shows up a couple times in the cartoons

Ahha this is where having no life comes in. So that is possible but ya know how they follow honor and morals and stuff. They don't do that cause it's considered to be a show of... in polite terms. Being a stupid weak butt coward who can't really fight. Both the jedi and sith say that it is not allowed and stuff.

That’s…that’s really dumb of them. It’s no more cowardly than groin-kicks—that is to say, not at all. Rules like that are typically adopted by fighting styles that have become more tournament or competition-based than actual self-defense or combat-based. It has nothing to do with being cowardly, and if introduced would make combat a lot more interesting because then it becomes more a game of tactics than strength, thus leveling the playing field a bit. That rule to me seems just a lame way of avoiding intense choreography work.

Not intended to offend in any way, this is just something I feel strongly about from my and other people’s experience with combat.

No offense taken. I also feel really strongly about anything starwars so...

That is a valid point. I have also questioned that and I think the main reason is because remembering star wars doesn't actually exist for one second. George Lucas prolly didn't wanna have to deal with all of that and having to incorporate it in the story. It would have been harder to make a movie to if they had to do that. They had that be the reason most likely to make life simpler and so it's kinda an excuse.  In not an expert that's just my standing on it.

Yeah, and from a writer’s standpoint that makes sense. It’s just not a particularly great reason.

Touche.

Thanks for that discussion. It's been ages since I've been able to talk about stuff like that. It was quite refreshing to be challenged. Many thanks.

I should go to bed now. Night night.
