Is this sign up?

Also, do you wish to get counsel on the formatting of such RPs?

Also, would this be us RPing as characters, or would it be us making our own characters/plot?

Hey there! Once again, welcome to the shard!

I think a lotr RP would be very fun, did you have specifics in what you wanted to do? (Are we going to RP the plot of lotr, or do an original story within middle earth? Are we doing original characters, canon ones, or both?)

TO WHICH QUESTION?!?!!?!

*deep breath*

Sorry.

So, usually RPs here have a sign-up thread (or whatever it’s called…) in which people commit to the RP and create their characters, and then once everyone is ready, you would create a second thread (that’s what it’s called, right? Thread?) or personal message chat which is where the actual RP takes place.

I would personally prefer our own characters, but that’s cuz I suffer from chronic creativity.

Creat your own characters if you want

Some things to consider:

--A general rule here on the Shard is that out of character/narrative conversation happens in quote boxes (as I'm doing now). This makes it clear whether you're adding to the narrative or speaking directly to the players.

--When it comes to starting an RP based on a pre-existing story, it can be difficult to 'jump off' without much structure. Unlike an RP that's made up as we go, Lotr has locations and characters pre-made. It's easier for people if we have a starting setting and time period (ex. rivendell, at the council of elrond).

--In general, we use character sheets (Something that lists name, race, gender/pronouns, abilities, etc.) So we can all understand who is who and what we're doing in the story. (Ex. my character is Elrond, and I give some specifics, now everyone knows the level of power my character has and what his abilities are)

--As the person who created the RP, you're in charge! You don't have to 'DM' it so to speak if you don't want to, but people will generally look to you for major story decisions, and at this point, concept decisions. So when we ask you 'where are the characters?' and 'Who can we play?' we want to know what your vision for the story is so that our contributions can align with it.
