Yolenlightweaver Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I am finishing another reread of Words of Radiance in preparation for KoWaT and I am sorry if this has been discussed, but what I have previously seen is that this title is in reference to Kaladin and Szeth’s mission. At the end of WoR, Mraize invites Shallan to find truth. Is there any chance the truth here is in reference to Shallan’s journey and discovery and the Wind refers to the duo with the black sword? Just wanted people’s thoughts, so pumped for December!

Way of Kings by Nohadon, Words of Radiance the book Jasnah gives Shallan to read, Oathbringer the book Dalinar wrote, and lastly: Rhythm of War, the title that Navani and Raboniel gave their notebook that they both wrote in. While your speculations seem very accurate and cool, just keep in mind that the titles are always a book. But I agree that Wind and Truth respectively co-align very nicely with Kaladin and Szeth's missions. 1
Yolenlightweaver Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 So do you think it will be one that one of them writes, so far the books come from the distant past, the less distant past, the present reflecting on the past, the present and technology, so the last could be about the future? Kaladin and Shallan setting expectations and goals for the new order of knights radiant? It’s fun to speculate. 5 minutes ago, Mattel said: So far every single title in the series has been a physical book that is in the story. Mattel Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Hmmmm... I really don't know. I could totally see Kaladin learning how to read Women's Script, he already knows how to read glyphs, so I could see him learning how to read and write and making a book. But Sanderson did already use the card of having two people write a book together, with Navani and Raboniel. So I doubt that it will be both Shallan and Kaladin writing it. Sadly, them making a book about the expectations and goals for the new orders sounds like the book would end with a very neat bow, and considering their are gonna be another freaking five books in the series, I doubt things will go that way (Though I hope that they will ). I honestly have no clue what it will be. I do think you probably are onto something about the future, that has been a definite pattern so far. Yeah, thinking about it now, I highly agree that Kaladin will be the one to write the book. There are like no other very large characters (except maybe Renarin) who I could see actually writing an entire book. Waiiiiiiit. Could Rlain be the one who writes the book?! He is familiar with both Wind and Truth, he was part of a group that all became wind runners, and he became a truth watcher at the end of RoW. Raboniel is the only other singer to have written one of the books the books are named after, and only half. Thoughts on that idea?
Yolenlightweaver Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 I think that is a fun one! I just feel like the authors of the two most recent books were a surprise so I would be surprised if it is just Kaladin since I think that is a low hanging fruit. We know Rlain won’t have any flashbacks but that he does have familiarity with both sides of that. I personally still feel like the death of the first generation of spren seems to simple to be that the humans stole the land, so I think there will definitely be some truth that Rlain will be discovering so solid idea!
