Fear had to accept the very basic bounds of the Archstone's reality to appear in this world - but Fear was never part of the Archstone. Madness did not give Fear a place within it.

Each empowered individual is going to have an attunement to a certain element/thing. The attunement allows one to derive strength and health from the non magical presence of the essence, and in turn allows one to bring forth the magical presence of the essence by sacrifice strength. There are other side effects, but you don’t get to know those. Various things I posted hint at these effects.
 

The attunements:

1. Fire/Heat. People from this attunement are generally (for lack of better classifications) Chaotic Evil.

2. Cold. Lawful Good.

3. Wind. True Chaos.

4. Emotion. Chaotic Good
