Through the Living Hope Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 Marewill suddenly awoke in the hospital. What had happened? Hadn’t they just gone to Rashi and Falr’s house? Tinker sighed in relief. He had a bit of scruff on his chin and tears in his eyes. He didn’t look like he’d slept. “Tinker- what- don't remember-" “Mare… it’s okay. It’s just… When we got in the house, you were fine for a while, but then you suddenly collapsed. Mark and I got you here as soon as we could." She wrinkled her eyebrows. The slight movement drew her attention to her throbbing head. “Ow…" Tinker chuckled, but it was weak. “Turns out when you bumped your head, it was worse than they thought. You’re alright now, but… you were out for a couple weeks." Weeks… “The Games…?" He shook his head. “Over. It wasn’t someone any of us knew. You.. You wouldn’t have wanted to see it. Trust me." “.. Meron? Emma?" “They’re both fine,” he said softly. “The spike took in her, and he hasn’t had anything bad happen. He’s okay." Marewill’s exhale shook. “They said they want to keep you here for a few days after you wake up. Observation and stuff. Make sure the injury’s fully gone.” She heard the quiver in his voice. “What is..?" “What do you think, Mare? You just suddenly collapsed. I thought I was…" “Hey, hey.” She tried to reach out and tried to put her hand on his face. The lines from the drip bag didn’t let her get all the way there, but seeing her attempt, Tinker moved his head into her hand. “You said it yourself,” she said softly. “I’ll be okay." He nodded and took a deep breath. He sat up straight and moved her hand into his. “Is there anything you need?" She thought for a couple moments. “Just.. my family, you. …maybe Mark?" He chuckled again, and this one seemed more sincere. “You opened up to him quick,” he teased. “Yeah, well, trauma’s great at doing that." His eyes darkened for a moment as both of their minds went to the same storm, the same bird, the same Games. “It certainly is." The moment passed, and Tinker gave her hand a final squeeze. “I’ll be back soon with them." Marewill smiled, and her stomach growled. She felt her face begin to heat up. “M-maybe some food, too." Tinker smiled as he left. @The Stormfather Quote Don’t know if you have time to pick this up again but just wanted to post because I miss the good ol days

Literally. He dropped his cup of tea on his foot. Cursing, he shouted to the empty house ‘I’ll clean it later!” And ran off. He wanted to Slick his feet to get to the hospital quickly, but he knew he shouldn’t. He barely had any stormlight, and it would be better used if any of those people were to come back. Though, after all that, I don’t think we have to worry about THEM attacking US anymore. They might have something to worry about, though. But, his instincts urged against fighting. No, this time…Well, he had fought enough. These weeks of worry and confusion hadn’t rested him at all. The police weren’t much help, they couldn’t find any of those people. The bases that had been marked on the map were abandoned, with little sign of ever been inhabited. He arrived at the hospital walking rushedly, forcing himself to not break into a run. Making his way through the halls, he remembered the last fight he had had with the strange enemy. He threw open the door to Mare’s room with flair. ”Catching up a bit of lost sleep, were we?” Quote I’m like about to go to the airport for spring break so for today this is probably it (except maybe the drive after I land) but I should PROBABLY be able to do this. (finally) also unrelated but I’m finally getting back to writing a bunch and I’m 2/5 parts through my novel, with part 2 finished in like half the time of part 1. 1

I’d want to confirm with you first but I’d like to say after Mare did some… ahem… “violent landscaping”, the police caught at least a large majority of the group, because I (frankly) don’t remember much and we can probably do a new storyline now that the games are over Marewill chuckled. A few seconds later, her family and Tinker returned, the later holding a bowl of soup. He sat next to her and, despite her initial, feeble protests, started spooning it over.

Quote Yeah, a new storyline would be good, I have no clue what’s going on and don’t particularly want to reread my wall posts (might have posted a few too many of those. Oops.) Mark stayed a few paces away from Mare and her family, putting in the occasional word or nod, but not contributing much. Family…Interesting thing, that. He barely remembered his own. For the longest time, he had thought of the Rusted as his family, as a giant, messed up family with only one parent and about thirty brothers. Then…the games. He had family now, sort of. With Astra, and with the rest of the tributes who were gathered in the same area and were often together. But he had lost a lot of them. He tried to put himself into the happy moment of Marewill being awake and alright, but, as excited as he had been when he first heard the news, he now simply stood and contemplated. He wished Astra could be around more. But, of course, it was her continued effort playing the casinos and being social that let him live the life that he did, and let the two of them afford what meager stormlight they could gather. Quote Mostly just a justification for Lotus Blossom not being active on this thread lol Quote Alright I’m actually leaving now goodbye North America 1

Quote Have fun! Slowly, she started to seem more and more like herself. At one point, Marewill tried to take the IV drip out of her wrist and both herself and her fiancé laughed as he held her down. He did let her eat the soup on her own, though.

Quote I have landed and did not sleep a wink on the plane. rip. Mark was still off a little bit away from the heartwarming family reunion, fidgeting with his Shardblade, manifesting it as different mini figures and practicing animating them. He felt that he should say something, talk to Marewill about…well, the fact that the two of them had almost died several times. But it was nothing new to them. For once, neither he nor any of the voices within him had anything to say. Until he had to sneeze. He tried to stifle it, but it came out raucously. Uhhhh…. ”Excuse me,” he said, embarrassed. He grabbed a tissue. 1
