Before I was born, my family had a dog named Lucky, so called because he led my dad to my mom. The other thing she named it after was the Redspine. He was an intelligent creature, and because he didn’t want to be forced to harm the tributes, he asked her to kill him. It was quick and his choice, but it still rattled her.”
