"If we moved everything into one wagon it would definitely be easier."

"True, we don't really need both since the the whole 'competing teams' thing has fallen through." Nera said.,

She crept over to the blue wagon.

"I'll just hop in and start unloading the stuff." She disappeared inside.

This is the red wagon that Lady Genuhk was sleeping in.

Inside, everything is neat and orderly, the bed is made and her pack still sits at the foot of it. The wooden walls are covered in scorch marks.

A stick cracks out in the woods, and you all swear you can still hear whispers on the wind. The bandits aren't completely gone, but they're not coming after you all--just watching and waiting.

do you want to rp with them in a separate pov or just have your character be absent for awhile? Either is fine, these bandits will be relevant again soon.

Yeah, a combination of the two sounds good. I’m pretty sure my teachers are about to drop a bunch of homework on my head, on top of what’s already there, so I’ll likely at least have reduced activity for a week or two.

Dint continued to keep watch, but he was starting to tire. He would need to switch soon.

Eublech kneels, inspecting the scorch marks. Then he moves over to the pack, to see if anything was moved or taken.

The scorch marks seem very fresh and are still al little warm to the touch. They cross the wooden boards in a spiral pattern, the center near the middle of the wagons floor.

The bag is neat and orderly, and was closed before Eublech looked inside. It's filled with basic travelling supplies, a change of clothes, and the notebook Lady Genuhk was taking notes in.

---------------

Nera hopped out of the blue wagon, cursing loudly despite herself. Behind her, a shadow filled the wagons doorway and as Nera began to sprint away, a large chest-like mimic burst out.

Long pincers coming out of the chests opening pried itself through the doorway, cracking the wooden beams.

"It must have been a trap for bandits!" Nera yelled as she dove for the crossbow, more then a little embarrassed she'd fallen for it.

fyi, I'm going more for dungeon meshi style mimic instead of DnD style mimic:

Eublech considers opening the notebook. But if the lady found out... no. He returns to the scorch marks. They don't seem natural.

You should look up darksouls mimics…

Dint frowned when he saw the notebook. “Might they be concealed? Watching invisibly? But the scorch marks seem to suggest otherwise…”

Upon closer inspection, the center of the spiral had a small, almost gone chalk rune drawn on the floorboards. A spell.

"Can't you shoot inside the bow or something? Get it's guts?" Nera asked. She let a bolt fly, but it bounced off of one of the mimics armored limbs.

She tried. She had less than ten arrows left.

Eublech sneaks to the others. He doesn't know runes, but he hopes one of them does.

An arrow embeds itself into one of the boxes wooden sides, but it doesn't seem to hinder it.

You catch them in the middle of fighting a massive mimic. The box it's in is about 3 feet by 4 feet, but the legs and pincers make it bigger.

“That’s what I was worried about…” She tried to stop it with vines. Sweat dripped down her face.

It slipped free of them, the box and armored legs seemed to be made out of slick material.

"Try coming at it from behind alright? I'll distract it."

Dint leaped down, hearing the shouts. He readied his crossbow, aimed, and shot a bolt into its mouth.

Yeah, sounds good. He’s trying to do any action that makes the payoff from joining, running, or betraying better without removing his other options.
As I said, I’ll be not very active for the next week or so.

Alvar has an easily soakable rag for just this sort of thing; with it clapped over his mouth he avoids breathing in the strange smoke that other adventurer had caused. He sticks to places where he’s unlikely to be stabbed by trigger-happy bandits until the smoke clears.

Heartache attempts to speak with the mimic.

"Hello there, my name is Heartache, what's yours?"
