Elan looked at the two things. He smacked them together, but crushed his fingers in the process. He yelped, dropping the flint and steel, holding his cold and now injured fingers daintily. "OW."

Glass watched as things suddenly appeared in other people's backpacks. Interesting. She really wanted to write all this down.

Her backpack suddenly became slightly heavier.

There's no way, she thought, taking off and opening the backpack.

Sure enough, however, inside her backpack there was now a small notepad and two pencils.

Scars stops gathering firewood. Hmmm, so wants = get hugh. He pictures a bow and arrow, that would be nice. He grabs his shoelaces as well, grabbing one of the branches, tying a knot onto either end. "Anybody got a knife or something?"

Dray walks over, holding some ferrorods. “I can do it; but we need to get some tinder and an actual fire circle. Without the first, it won’t light, and without the second, we could burn the forest down. Tinder is the smallest wood - kindling is the sticks that it will light.”

Rustling around in the backpack again, he comes up with a pocket knife. “I’ll get us some wood shavings. Does anybody else know how to whittle?” 

Turning back to the whole group, Dray continues coordinating. “Does anyone else know how to use a bow saw? I’ll set up an axe yard over there. You two - put the dry branches in a pile here, wet branches and green leaves over there, and see if you can bring one of the fallen trees over there.” Then, he gets a rope from his bag, and begins tying it to some trees that form a rough triangle. “These bags are weird. I’d think I would have heard about the technology to do this sort of thing.”

"Someone asked for a helicopter earlier - it didn't work. I do own all the stuff I've gotten so far - that may be related."

“So it isn’t necessarily just survival supplies.” CrazyBoy said looking down,  he realized that he’s shaved off quite a bit of kindling from the branches he’s gathered. “You said to put the kindling in a pile and the dry branches too?” He asked.

Almond arrives back "I have 2 bows and a lot of arrows if you want to borrow one." Almond then pulls out his bow "Geez this thing is heavy! I can get my other one if you want?" He puts his bow down for a second and also pulls a lot of berries and stuff out of his pocket "I'm fairly certain these are safe to eat. These ones are definitely safe. Maybe be careful of the morels though, and cook them first regardless."

"I say that's a problem for another time." She laid down the trombone. "Everything we have now has some kind of practical use, even if it's not the intended one. If it disappears, we don't know if we can get them back. And we don't know if there's a limit to how many things we can get out of the backpacks."

Spark looked up at the mountain. "Maybe. Just an idea, but maybe we should split up into two groups, at least for a while. One team to make the fires, the other for some recon. Just see what's ahead, what we're dealing with."
