Bird Furious she/her/un/important Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) All right— I finished the final spread and tallied up the votes for my Crowdpleaser project (yes I'm calling it that even though I'm prolly gonna peeve off a lot of you)! Thank you so much to everyone who voted (I won’t ping y’all, cuz Imma post this in about 3 places I think? Maybe 4. Will it get annoying? Uh. probably at first at least yes so, uh, I apologize for that… it prolly won’t last, if that helps (eh, I changed my mind. I'm just gonna put it here and add a plug to my next SU ) I’ve so far had a good bit of fun with this project, and the way this is going is making me very excited. I’ll keep y’all updated and release everything I can as I figure and plot it out, then move to writing scenes. And no, I'm not spoilering it. This is my writing thread; I can do what I want Characters 1— Winners Reluctant Hero (8) Unlikely Ally (8) Antihero (6) Mentor (6) Antivillan (6) And then either Underdog (5) or Rebel (5) (maybe both, depending on how plotting goes, but prolly not)--- if u have opinions, go ahead and lemme know. Otherwise I’ll just pick one when i get there Characters 2— Winners Character w/ survivor’s guilt (10) Character w/ trust issues, Villain trusted by people, justifies and sympathetic villain (7) Powerful, invulnerable character brought down to a human level (6) Character with demons from the past (either literal or metaphorical) and/or Character pushing away people who care about them “I’m too dangerous” (5) [again, dudes, yall can vote if u want :D] Plot 1— Winners Villain and protag work against a greater threat, forgetting enmities in the process, redemption arc (7) Protag mentored by villain, Bavarian Fire Drill (6) Lovers to enemies, stockholm syndrome (5) (why did I add stockholm syndrome that’s prolly gonna dictate like at least 2 story beats T~T) Plot 2— Winners Quest story (7) Personal hero’s journey (5) Crusade to end magic by SpiritOfWrath (ikkk yall didn’t vote on it but I’ve already got two you did vote on and I really like this ideaaaaaaa and guys it FITSSSSS so *cough*) Worldbuilding 1— Winners Thank you SO MUCH to EVERYONE who did NOT vote for High School. It got only two votes Medieval/less advanced society built in the ruins of an advanced civilization (9) Decaying post-apocalypse (7) Secret organization (6) Dragons and Mysterious Ancient City (5) Set During War (4) Worldbuilding 2— Winners Thanks to the two people who picked Uhhhhhhh. It gave me hope for y’alls sense of humor Sci-fi (5) Fantasy and Fever Dream (4) Mix up genres as much as possible (Just A Silvereye, I’m including this cuz I like the advice) Million Dollar Questions I’m saving all the answers to this, but based on what y’all said, here are the answers so far! Does it end well or badly? The answers to this were very close— 5 for well, 4 for badly/bittersweet. So I’ll lean toward well, but that’s definitely flexible. Romance or no? Overwhelmingly yes for romance, especially as a slow burn/sideplot. Don’t worry, dudes. I gochu. Does the villain or protagonist win? Y’all were PERFECTLY split on this, with a lot of you saying “whatever makes sense” or “both/neither”. So… cool! We’ll see what we can do with that Earth or otherwise? Overwhelmingly, y’all said otherwise (or an alternate Earth that is no longer like Earth). Thank you so much to everyone who voted and left comments! I love y’all I’ll keep you updated and do what I can. *cough cough* Speaking of keeping y’all updated…. I am now taking name submissions for characters, as well as submissions of random words. This poll will prolly be a lot more lowkey— I just need it to flesh a little more out about the characters and something else I’m not gonna say. :3 Edited December 28, 2024 by Halcyon The Only 6

Thanks for taking this survey thingy Hold on, protagonist mentored by villain would be SUCH A GOOD PLOT TWIST (side note, if you don't end up using it, could I?) Side note: Do you have any writing advice if I am being silly and attempting to write a novel by march? It's for a writing contest... I can't write short stories (I think at least, I haven't exactly tried). I can't plot for the life of me btw. Yeah so how do you come up with a plot? I tend to have characters and a scenario that is formed by a scene that comes to mind (for this one it was an unconscious body falling onto a princess' balcony) Sorry if this is too much me, you just have such great ideas and I'd love to hear your tips and tricks or whatnot (side note: I miiiight start my own writing thread?) Imma use it but you totally can For me, plot is hard... for short stories (never actually finished a plot for a novel) I usually pick an ending that works thematically. I'd strongly strongly recommend using the three strike method if you're trying to write it quickly. The main character tries three times to accomplish some goal, and the third time they either succeed or fail. With a novel, that looks more like random events that challenge the character in some way. Not random, but you know what I mean. If you need an ending that might not be super twisty or special but ties everything together, look at your protagonist and their fatal flaw. Have them overcoming the fatal flaw resolve the book. That alone will be satisfying to a reader. Anyway that's my advice off the top of my head I would absolutely love to help you bounce ideas if you'd like to DM me! If you make a writing thread, I'll be hanging around that too 1

The paper bag one was heavily edited though. Be nice to my poems >:(( Quote Spoiler Lament Adding to Time’s still-crisp tomes We stand and we begin to roam Through the cold across the loam Heeding distant calls of ‘come’. We wander far, we leave our home Adding to Time’s still-crisp tomes Watching leaves turn dull as stone Follow rivers, walk alone. In our minds, apart we watch Sunset distant, rays to catch Adding to Time’s still-crisp tomes We must remember, this we chose Never resting, e’er we roam And thus become a distant groan Ringing through Earth’s very bones Adding to Time’s still-crisp tomes. Spoiler Paper Bag. A Poem. Brown paper hag, I find that you sag When used as a bag, You useless rag. Dear paper puppet, I find that you flunk at Being a bucket; I plan your comeuppance. Fat paper liar, Your lot is dire. For I do admire A quick death by fire. Quote SCUDDIY WHYD IT DO THAT I SWEAR-- *ahem* Spoiler Lost Twilight The day was bright But now night falls And still the light To darkness calls Waiting, watching, ever wonder When the dark will cover over When the stars will grace our presence With the dappled light exigent When the light to us will fall As the dark will heed the call Blanketing our quiet homes Adding to Time’s still-crisp tomes Here we are on midnight ground Here we are to look around Here we are, yet to be found.
