Cuaiir he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 The Feruchemical symbols for the sixteen non-god metals, as well as atium, are different from the Allomantic symbols we're all familiar with, but have yet to be added to the Coppermind. Is there any particular reason for this? The only reason I can think of is copyright. I ask because one of my friends is trying to crack both the Steel Alphabet and the Terris version (which she's assuming the Feruchemical metal symbols are based on) but doesn't have the Mistborn RPG. She's using the Coppermind as a main resource, so getting the Feruchemical metals on there would be helpful. 1
Windrunner he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) I think I know why. As far as I know, we have yet to see either the Feruchemical Table of Metals or the Terris symbols. It is true that they come with the RPG, but the only place I think it's seen is in the actual endsheet, between the cover and the first or last(I'm not sure which) page of the hardcover, similar to the the Way of Kings maps and Radiant/Voidbinder symbols. Since no hardcovers have been released thus far, no one has seen the table which is the only place the symbols are. I think the hardcover will be coming fairly soon, and when that happens I'm virtually certain that Brandon will begin selling copies of the table on his website. Also there is potentially a new Allomantic table done in a new style that matches the Feruchemical table style, which he mentioned he was hoping for. I'm not sure if Brandon actually planned on this happening though. Rumor has it the the Terris symbols are triangular, but thats all I've heard. If your friend succeeds in cracking anything about the symbols I would love to hear about it. Tell him or her that we've only ever seen one pattern, the location of the dots in the Allomantic symbol tells you if the metal is pushing or pulling, it lies outside for pulling, and inside for pushing. I hope this was helpful and accurate and that your friend finds something interesting in the symbols. Edited February 23, 2012 by Windrunner
Chaos he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 You can definitely add them to the Coppermind. It's less a copyright issue and more of a "no one has gone through the effort to grab the image files and uploaded them yet" thing

That's certainly a novel concept, *enlightenment* Thanks And indeed, if anyone wishes to do this, feel free
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Okay then. I've got all the image files (woo PDF format and Photoshop!), but no idea how to load them onto the Coppermind. I looked at the the Help:Images page, but it's blank. Help? 1
Joe ST he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 If you're logged into the coppermind, there'll be a link in the bottom box on the sidebar called Upload File. Select your file, make sure the destination filename is '<metal>_(feruchemy).<type>' and the summary is 'Drawing of the [[feruchemical]] symbol for [[<metal>]]' and then hit upload.
Windrunner he/him Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 You can definitely add them to the Coppermind. It's less a copyright issue and more of a "no one has gone through the effort to grab the image files and uploaded them yet" thing Wait, when and how did we get a hold of these images??? I can't wait to see they symbols!
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 They're on the Coppermind attached to every known metal but lerasium and malatium. Windrunner: they were released in the text of the Mistborn RPG. I got the digital version, opened the relevant pages in photoshop and illustrator, and after much editing uploaded them to the Coppermind this morning. So now we've got that up there. 2
Joe ST he/him Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks so much Cuaiir you dont mind if I make them all into vector drawings do you?
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Not at all. I've actually got them in a .ai file as vectors, I was just unsure of what to export them as to preserve that. 1
Joe ST he/him Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 oohh, vectors hey? can you export to svg and then zip them up and attach to a post here in the forum? I'd love you forever
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Okay, done. Feruchemical Symbols.zip 2
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 On a slightly different note, I did the same vector tracings of the 'Radiant' and 'Shadesmar' images for each of the ten orders. Not sure where to put these, though, so I'll leave that up to the wiser wiki editors. They're both in the same zip file - hope that's okay. Radiant - All.zip 4
Joe ST he/him Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 YOU ARE AMAZING! You dont happen to have the Aons under your belt too? Thank you so much. Oh and the other two pages of Alomancy symbols? XD *me dances around with excitement* wooo you're awesome
Cuaiir he/him Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Aons no, since I have the paperback version instead of digital. I'm not sure what you mean by the other two pages of Allomancy symbols, but if it's in the RPG I can find it and trace it.
Joe ST he/him Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Sorry, I meant the two sets of symbols found in Well of Ascension and Hero of Ages, the historical ones, you can find digital versions on Isaac's website, here and here
b4dave he/him Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 anyone else think that the metallic symbils in the mistborn 2 art listed bove kinda resemble Aons?
