ROSHtafARian Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Anyone know what the word counts of Brandon's books are? I know he said Alloy of Law was like 90K but anyone know the others? I'm just idly curious - with the exception of Way of Kings, most of his books like Elantris seem on the short end of epic fantasy, but still pack a ton of plot and worldbuilding in, and was curious how they compared wordcount wise to other authors' epic fantasies.
LevenThumps Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 The Two Wheel of Time books he's written can be found on Wot wiki. I don't know about the other ones.
Chicken Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Word counts are more or less: Elantris 200k. Final Empire 213k. Well of Ascension 248k. Hero of Ages 236k. Warbreaker 201k. Way of Kings 380k. 1
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) Way of Kings is 386,000. It gets complicated because there is text in the images, and there's the Ars Arcanum, etc. Also, lots of epic fantasies nowadays are under 200,000. Some editors want them at 100,000. Jack the Halls he/him Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Before seeing this list, I think I would have guessed at least 50k higher for each one...
chongjasmine Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Before reading this thread, I thought his book's word count to be 300k or more. 1
legolasgalactica Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 A couple of interesting links about his books' word-counts: http://loopingworld.com/2009/03/06/wordcount/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/3kwxga/a_chart_of_the_cumulative_word_count_of_brandon/ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bLYPHdhopXVh81lTy1KZHfKZX2voue3bukb90u2_Kyw/pubhtml
