"Ten more minutes of that?!" she muttered, hand on her forehead.

"We'd better be able to."

"... Do you want to walk around a bit? We'll probably be here a while."

They're going in a neighborhood, 25 mph, to an urban road, 45mph, and a brief stint on the freeway for like maybe a minute, 70-80mph

"Yep! Fun, huh!"

---

Gem nodded. "If you don't wanna try sleeping again."

“I think our definitions of fun are different!”

”I know I won’t be able to, so….”

"Mine is more... modern." Elan says, pulling onto a busy street with other cars, accelerating. "We're only going like... forty-five miles an hour."

---

"Alright. Let's go exploring then I guess."

"How do you plan to do that?" Lerac didn't sound judgemental or disbelieving, just gentle and a bit uncertain. He had never been very good with emotions, his own or others'.

She growled. “I’ll figure something out.”

She grabbed the handle again. “That’s a lot-!”

~~~
He stood up. “Wanna go left or right?”
"It's fine. We'll be going like... eighty soon." He says, pulling onto the highway.
---
"Left. Good direction."
"Haly. Be careful. He wouldn't want you to get yourself hurt over this."
“I don’t care what he’d want.” She turned and walked away.
"That might not be possible."
She growled in the back of her throat and closed her eyes, feeling for the well of power so familiar to her. It was difficult, because she'd gotten it back so recently.
Come on. Come on, I need you.
There. There it was.
A rain of marshmallows fell to the floor. she growled. No! No, that's not what I need. I need...
An image rose in her mind, something she'd forgotten about. A dark stone shrine under the ground, glistening with moisture. She felt revulsion, an initial, instinctual reaction.
But maybe that shrine was what she needed.
The marshmallows were set on fire, then all vanished. Come on, just a little more!
"Haly? Haly!" Lerac stepped forward and grabbed her by the arm. She felt his strange, mixed aura of warmth and coldness, and a rush of healing when his hand touched her skin.
