Llama Question

I'm new here and a relatively new Sanderson fan. My first read was WofK a couple of months after it was published. I've read all of the Mistborns, but where on earth did the llama concept come from? According to the t-shirt description, they are allomancers who like donuts. But... whaaaaat????

I read somewhere that its one of Brandon's writing groups, kind of a joke that they made up. They're llamas who eat certain grasses or something and gain super llaman powers. Anyone who has more knowledge then me, please feel free to correct me.

Yeah, it's an inside joke from his writing group. I've seen many people ask him about it and that's as much as he'll say on the subject. We may have to resort to bribing Peter to get more information.
