They rested like that for a time until a knock sounded on their door.

"Come in." Rex called.

The door opened and their food was brought in. It was soup today apparently, and Rex accepted her bowl gratefully. 

"Thank you." She called after them as they left the room.

"Thank you." She called after them as they left the room. 

Daniel reluctantly moved his head off of Rex’s and grabbed his bowl of soup.

Rex blew on her soup, cooling it down before trying it. "That's not bad for hospital food." She laughed quietly, taking another bite.

“No, it isn’t bad at all.” Daniel set the soup on his lap and gently wrapped an arm around Rex. He continued to eat.
