He just shrugged. Let's go, then.

“Alright,” she said. She paid the innkeeper, who winked at her as she walked passed.

...Never mind. He looked around as they entered the room. Not a lot of space, but it's... more than I'm used to.

“It’s decidedly better than nothing. So, how do you want to split this? I can take the first half of the night on  the ground if you’d like.”

Go ahead and start on the bed. He sat down next to it, closing his eyes.

“You’re planning to not wake me up, aren’t you,” she said, half jokingly.

In a minute

Helda heard Tayen’s breathing slow and become a steady beat. She couldn’t sleep though. Each time she tried, she was woken by nightmares, each more horrible than the last. They had something to do with the bodies she had used…

Around  midnight, she crawled off the bed and slid down next to Tayen. She leaned against him gently, hoping he would wake and save her.

He blinked awake. Helda? His signs were difficult to make out in the dark.

She gave a small sigh of relief. She was visibly trembling, even in the dark. “Wii you protect me from them? From the nightmares?”

“I don’t know. Are you capable of taking care of yourself?”

Okay. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.

She melted into the embrace, his arms perfectly holding her. Slowly, she drifted off into an even sleep.
