traceria she/her Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I know we have a community here filled with individuals with vibrant imaginations, but do any of you have creative outlets that take tangible form? Crochet/knitting, painting, photography, just to name a few? I'm all excited to go buy yarn at the moment so that I can make an afghan for friends who are getting married in December. It's it's own kind of buzz, to have decided on a project and know I'm only a few supplies away from when the fun begins! Any others out there who are into "arts & crafts?"
EHyde she/her Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (moving this to Creator's Corner) I am! Aside from costuming I also knit (I know how to crochet, but I'm not very good at it yet). Buying yarn for a new project is so much fun! I'm one of those people who has to have a project already in mind when I'm buying yarn, though often as not I'll later decide that I don't want to make that project after all ... that's how my stash grows. Are you on Ravelry? I'm EHyde over there, too. I'm not really into drawing/painting ... probably my favorite creative outlet after fiber arts and writing would have to be cooking.
traceria she/her Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Buying yarn for a new project is so much fun! I'm one of those people who has to have a project already in mind when I'm buying yarn, though often as not I'll later decide that I don't want to make that project after all ... that's how my stash grows. That is exactly how mine grows as well! There have been periods of time where I go to the store with a book of patterns and am like, "Okay, I'm going to eventually make these five things..." I buy all the yarn (and sometimes additional supplies) and then end up only making one thing. The rest sits in my closet inside the myriads of containers! Every now and then I manage to give some away, be it to friends or the occasional church knitting/crochet group. I think I have a Ravelry account, but it's been ages since I went on there. That's horrible! I really should go back and see when it was I was on last and what I was working on! My account name should also be the same. I also love to do origami occasionally. I can't really draw or paint (to any impressive degree), but I've found origami is an interesting way to create a picture or just something cool when the usual outlets are your area of talent. If you ever want to virtually cook a meal, I love baking, too! I can cover dessert.
