Paragrin she/her Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 So, I was rereading HoA and I spotted something that I think has been pointed out before- that one of the kandra First Generation titledropped SoS in reference to Leras-as-the-mist-spirit. Now, as this is Brandon, there is no way this is not significant. We might find out more about Leras and Ati, their time as mist spirits, or... Cognitive Shadows. And who is the one person who is a confirmed Cognitive Shadow, from Scadrial even? I think there's a real possibility that Kelsier might play a more active part. 1
Quiver he/him Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Uh... Sorry. I returned my copy of HoA a while ago, so I can't check it... would you mind supplying the quote they use? Because I'm kind of confused as to what you mean.
Paragrin she/her Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 ...~Preservation's mind was almost destroyed~ "The sliver remains. The shadow of self."
Oudeis he/him Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 It's possibly a stretch to think that "shadow of self" and "cognitive shadow" are the same thing. Mr. Sanderson seems overly fond of the word Shadow, that could simply be part of it. But maybe. And I, like you, hope that if this next book is called Shadows of Self and the mist spirit was termed a "shadow of self" we might learn much more about Alendi's meeting with the dark mist spirit in the distant past.
