Hutch Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Hello fellow Sander-fans. I've been a long-time fan, and now am a first-time poster as I wanted to answer someone's question. So, I've finally made an account. I look forward to interacting with you all rather than just lurking. Cheers 4
Telrao she/her Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) G'day, Hutch! Welcome (officially) to the 17th Shard! We're happy to meet ya! What Sanderson books have you read? And also: Spoiler Are you, by any chance, a fellow Aussie? sorry if that sounds creepy ahhhhhhhh Edited April 8, 2023 by Telrao 1
Cinnamon Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Welcome mate! Who’s your favourite of Sanderson’s characters? Also, same question as Telrao Spoiler Are you by any chance a fellow Aussie? If so our numbers are expanding. Mwahahahahahaha! If not, well just ignore those last couple sentences . Welcome to the Shard! 1
Robin Sedai she/her Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Welcome, Hutch! It's good to meet you! Spoiler Okay, I'm curious too... are you part of the Aussie infestation? 1
Edema Rue she/her Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Hi!! Happy to have here! Spoiler Don’t worry, not all of us are Aussies, so if you’re just a normal human who goes to bed at a normal time, fear not! All is well! 1
Hutch Posted April 9, 2023 Author Posted April 9, 2023 Hey there friends, I am indeed an Aussie and happy to be here. I've read all the published Cosmere works, except for the Secret Projects (they're on the way) and I'm currently half-way through White Sand. In terms of favourite characters, I liked reading Hrathen, Eshonai, Sixth of the Dusk, and Silence. I enjoy Brandon's ability to completely shift voice between characters. I also enjoy unpicking all the little hints and offhand comments that illustrate the grand mechanics behind everything. I've just started learning machine embroidery so I'm digitising and sewing some Cosmere flavoured designs. Great to meet you all, and thanks for the warm welcome. Pop by for a cuppa and a Tim Tam any time. 3

The other Australian Sharders that I know of include: myself, @Telrao, @Werewolff Studios and a moderator who goes by the name of Voidus who may not appreciate us pinging them for a random reason. 3 hours ago, Hutch said: In terms of favourite characters, I liked reading Hrathen, Eshonai, Sixth of the Dusk, and Silence. Hrathen is one of my most favourite (shh grammar) characters too! 3 hours ago, Hutch said: I've just started learning machine embroidery so I'm digitising and sewing some Cosmere flavoured designs. That’s incredibly awesome! You should make an art thread and share your designs with us! Edited April 10, 2023 by Cinnamon 1
Hutch Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 I'm glad to be part of a growing movement to Australianise the fandom. I'll share some thread art on an art thread when I've got something worth sharing. I'm still very much learning. 1
shortcake thr/eat ka/boom Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 how exciting! do you like doing any other art-related things, or is it just embroidery? Spoiler I've done embroidery before, man it's quite relaxing. that is, up until you stab you thumb a bajillion times lol 1
Hutch Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 It's machine embroidery, so if thumb stabbing was to occur I'd have to have done something fairly wrong. It's mostly digital drawing in an embroidery software (which is a learning curve indeed) and then watching to see if the thread snags or snaps (or you accidentally have the garment folded and it embroiders itself together ). Other than that, I'm not super creative. I do make pipe organ covers of different kinds of music on YouTube. Movies, TV shows, video games, pop songs, or anything else that takes my fancy (or is requested). You can check them out here if you'd like: www.youtube.com/c/GHutchOrgan What about yourselves Cinnamon, shortcake, and Veledsier: are you creative types? 1
Veledsier Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Yes! Song writer, regular writer, fantasy world map artist, and cosplay outfit maker! 1

I’m a Lightweaver (according to the KRO quiz) so how could I not be! I love the performing arts, mainly theatre but I also am trying to teach myself to draw and I make a lot of stickers . 8 minutes ago, Hutch said: Other than that, I'm not super creative. I can't seem to create anything new, so I rearrange other's music and redesign their art into embroidery. I'm very jealous of those such as yourself who can create something new of their own.

Creating covers is a gift! You make something new out of something old. I'd say that's pretty awesome 2 hours ago, Hutch said: I'm glad to be part of a growing movement to Australianise the fandom.
