I just finished The Lost Metal. Throughout the era 2 books of Mistborn, there is a lot more talk about investiture. I was wondering if anyone could explain what it is a little more clearly? Between Warbreaker and the other mentions of it I'm a little confused how it works? Any clarification would be appreciated!

Basically Investiture is the Cosmere's word for the energy that powers all the magic systems and makes the Cosmere work; "The essence of the gods".

The Coppermind has a detailed explanation found here.
