If you were to ask me what Sanderson work I would most like to be adapted, the answer wouldn’t be a Cosmere novel. It wouldn’t be Reckoners. It would be Skyward.

Now you might ask, “What sort of format or type of adaptation would this be? Would it be live-action or animated? Would it be a movie or a tv series?” The answer would be an animated movie, but a specific type of animation. What is this type of animation, you ask. The answer is simple.

 A Lego movie.

Not a goofy Lego movie, like all the rest, but one with a more serious tone.

I’ll be honest, part of my reason for Lego is that starship explosions would look awesome. Also I feel like Spensa could totally look like a Lego figure.

What do you think? Do you agree or do you think it would look dumb?

Ha ha! That would be fantastic, and though I can't imagine it ever happening, it'd be pretty nifty. However, I have to disagree. I feel that the goofiness inherent in the Lego Movie style would actually match a lot within Skyward. Imagine M-Bot's dialogue, or Spensa sneaking into Rodge's room. Those scenes would translate pretty well to a Lego form.

From a broader adaption perspective, Skyward would be a pretty great property to get the Sando movies rolling. It's pretty self-contained and easy to follow plot-wise, and you don't have to hit as many cosmerical beats to keep things consistent. Plus the space battles would be insane.

I see that you are right, those scenes would be good. But I wouldn’t want it to be as silly as Lego Batman or something, because I don’t think it would be good to let the two different tones clash and mess it up.

Yeah, you'd definitely be able to have some goofiness, but you definitely wouldn't be able to go the full amount of usual lego movie goofiness. Also I think that's actually a great idea

I feel like it would be better as a live-action movie. Those seem more serious and with the continuing series of Skyward gets more serious. I can't imagine Defiant in Lego form

I agree with Knevie. I think that a LEGO movie would be cool, but I would think that would ruin the "immersion" of a live action movie. I want to be able to feel like I'm there with the characters as I watch the movie.

I've read all four. Skyward would be an awesome live-action adaptation, but I fear the "magic system" of slugs and the nowhere would break Starsight onward. It feels a bit... odd if tweaks are not made. The first book has the pace and the stakes of a sci-fi Top Gun, and if Sanderson wants a soft launch I would commend this.
