Hawthorne is pale, kneeling next to Isadore “She’s not okay.”

Haly: “We’ve got to get TAAron to the medbay of the clinic. But I’ll be back. Promise.”

Hawthorne: “I… okay. Good luck.”

Haly drags TAAron carefully through the portal “Nameless, where’s the medbay?”

"Should be over here." Nameless grabbed TAAron's legs, helping Haly carry him to the clinic infirmary.

"Probably. The doctors here are the best in the entire world."

Haly: nods and backs away, unsure “When he wakes up, tell him… tell him I said bye.”

"Hm. Very sad. You have Calano's permission?"

Haly: “No, but I’m not really leaving the clinic, technically. It’s a door in the Belowplace. It’ll be fine.” Smiles again “Thanks for helping in the library earlier, with Karden. I’ll see you sometime.”

"Alright. See you then." Nameless nods at Haly, then wanders back to his room to finish rererererereading the whole Cosmere.

Deep in the recesses of his mind, TAAron began feeling a tension. It was like the twisting force that tears of piece of paper, ready to finally tear him away from his agony. He knew that he didn't want to die, but it didn't seem like there was much of a choice anymore. It was like he was trapped in a dream in a dream in a dream, and he was about to wake up for the last time. Odd sensation, for what they call "the final sleep."

Meanwhile, the clinic medical staff was hard at work keeping TAAron alive. They quickly brought in the life support system, made with the latest in multidimensional healing magics. It could keep a soul alive and healable indefinitely, even in cases where the body had been destroyed or the soul had suffered significant damage. Once that was up and running, they put in a call for a specialist to heal the brain damage, and settled in to wait.

Outside the Nayorian door in the belowplace, Haly felt a strange sense of loss. She’d miss this clinic, dangerous and insane and deadly as it was. She’d miss Nameless and Ranryu and TAAron and occasional Wizard sightings. She’d miss Calano and Emma and… and everything.

It’s okay. You’re trading something good for something better. This clinic was just a stop on the journey.

With a deep breath, she stepped through the door and began the walk to Xairim.

As soon as he was out of sight of shaky, Nameless sent a message to @CalanoCorvus

Are you okay with Haly going to the Nayorian dimension? She seems to think it’s fine since it’s technically in the same dimension, but I just wanted to make sure you knew about it.

The page began to tear. And then, in the middle, it stopped. TAAron's soul was in complete agony as some force kept him from release. His body tensed as the specialist healed him brain and he awoke. Then, he screamed.

Valy, a Skyfolk girl with brown hair, bright green eyes, and an interesting past, blinked. “Sure, you can come to training sessions. Pick a door, any door.” She swept her arm around the stone corridor at the many doors, then walked over to one of the arch windows in the wall. “I’ve got to find you a room, roommates, and some sort of map thing. Good luck!” She grinned reassuringly and flew out through the window and up the mountain—presumably, Haly couldn’t see from here.

This was the dream. Training as a Xairim inside the mountain itself, speaking Kellan all day, someday maybe even Fledging and summoning the Radiance for herself.

Haly walked through a door, picked up a sword, and ferociously clashed with another girl, her heart singing, this is where I belong.

The agonizing pain did not pass. Why did he still feel as though he were halfway... torn? Eventually, his throat became raw, and he stopped screaming. But the pain still did not go away.

"Where is... where are my friends? Why am I... AHH!"

Haly lay back on the bed in the room Valy had found for her, exhausted but happy. That… that had been a perfect day. She was Xairim

And she had the rings to prove it. She lifted her hands and smiled at the thick silver bands around each middle finger. Someday those would channel energy into her, making her an unstoppable force of nature. It would be years—maybe decades.

But all of a sudden, everything was all within reach. All her dreams she’d never really believed in were  reality.

Briefly, she wondered if TAAron was okay, or if he’d woken up yet. He’s fine. He’s got Nameless and the clinic doctors.

Haly laughed out loud.

And I’ve got the Xairim.

The specialist frowned, looking at some readings on his screen. “Hm. You appear to have experienced damage to your soul. Much more so than we previously thought. Excuse me, I need to go confer with my associates.” The specialist walked to the other side of the room, where he began having a hushed conversation in very concerned tones.

"My what? What happened?" He took a few deep breaths. "Sir? I think I'm... still dying."

“Nonsense. You’re not dying, we just stopped you from dying a little bit late. Nothing we can’t fix.” The specialist went back to his hushed conversation as several more doctors entered the room.

Think I did yeah. Fixed it.

"You don't sound very sure. Are you sure? I-" TAAron tried to sit up, resulting in pain like an electric shock running through his body. He found that he could distinguish physical pain from the soul-pain that was coming as a result of being halfway down the road to the Beyond.
