  1. The main issue I have with this topic is the assumption of a fair fight, when both disciplines have made trickery and underhanded tactics the core of their combat philosophy. That being said: The monk might withstand a LOT, but closing in on the Mistborn would be another matter entirely.
  2. The sun had long set, the lights in the village that lay behind us all gone out, its denizens huddling close together in the dark, praying. Praying for a miracle--us. It sounded better in my head, but I still like it quite a bit.
  3. Look, you're onto something here BUT you're thinking into the COMPLETELY wrong direction. It's like how the Japanese writing systems allow you to to write the same word or sound in four different ways, yet it looks pretty different. Some words are bound to be the same since Adonalsium used to be ONE entity.
  4. ...I just remembered something; It's an old theory I never posted since it seemed too trivial/obvious. That feeling might also have been a small dosage of stormlight he drew in from the crystal tien had given him a few minutes before that. Refined crystal holds stormlight better, but it is explicitly stated that small amounts can be held by raw stones as well.
  5. Yes, that's more than likely. My theory is that Spren "exist" everywhere on the planet, but that they need a certain base level of ambient energy to appear/manifest which the stormlight provides. Shinovar is simply an energetic "wasteland" due to the hightstorms being dispelled by the mountains, so no stormlight = no spren.
  6. So you mean that Highstorms not happening for a long time is what triggers the Weeping?
  7. No, that's --at least according to current knowledge-- incorrect. The seasons (namely the weeping) influence the Highstorms, not the other way around.
  8. ...they're pretty much screwed. Which makes me wonder why Hoid is runnign away from them when they're so desperate as to travel to another star with almost Nil chance of return.
  9. No, it'S been mentioned a couple of times, but maybe this time more will come of it. I would be very, very cautious in claiming that Kaladin didn't, but in the case of Szeth it's certainly true. What. If that's true, than it probably has somethign to do with light eye colour and the shard artifacts that, at least according to one prominent rumour, make lighteyes. At this moment I'd like to takes the time to point out yet again that Syl hates shard artifacts... maybe it's because of that? That certainly would be an interesting inversion of the old "fuelled by hatred" Trope...
  10. Yes. Splinters are a more neutral source of power because (to date) we haven't seen any personality bending going on. Of course, that advantage is balanced out by power that is several orders of magnitude smaller than that of a Sliver. Slightly off-topic: Am I the only one whom splinters and their relation to slivers reminded of the Divine Essence in Exalted? http://wiki.white-wolf.com/exalted/index.php?title=Exaltation#Celestial_Exaltation See also: http://wiki.white-wolf.com/exalted/index.php?title=God Sounds like the monomania that seems to take hold of all Shardholders after a certain amount of time, yes?
  11. One would need to go for a "serious" drawing style, like the one used in works such as Ergo Proxy... @Erongal: Thanks.
  12. Samurai Champloo, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: StrikerS and Noein.
  13. Hey Erongal. What do you mean with "Heavy Metal" style in this context?
  14. This, as well as the vain patterns of the tribes Sigzil visited with Hoid and the skin of the Parshmen. Am I the only one who got reminded of the "Wrath of the Lich King" intro video when Stormlight was described for the first time?
