What i wonder is whether that can be done in the opposite direction. Thuthwatchers are supposed to see "what is" what can be seen as what already happened. Shallan seeing Ash is in her pictures is a similar example. And thete are also Dalinar's visions. From Stormfather and the one about Nohadon. Morover Honor is the force of KEEPING bonds. He is the most past oriented shard i can think of. 1
JoelyWoely he/him Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Well first I'm fairly sure a Shard doesn't use fortune but rather glimpses into the spirit realm. They are two different things, using fortune is just a way to access the spiritual realm. Also well everything is Connected in some way, albeit strenuous. So maybe a shard would be able to glimpse very far into the past, but why would they need to? Anything that happened prior to the shattering isn't really needed and we can assume the vessels remember everything onward from it. So to sum up I don't get what you're talking about. 2
Szmit Posted June 20, 2018 Author Posted June 20, 2018 @JoelyWoely Shards have severe lacks of knowledge, like for example Odium doesn't know that Shallan is a lightweaver (didn't know before the battle at least), and most of what they know is what they activelly observed. However they can increase their knowledge by using fortune to glimpse into the Spiritual Realm to see futures that can happen as far as I understand. What I'm proposing is that Honor could use his fortune to see someone's past instead of his future, for example to check what kind of spren are they bonded to. Without getting into spoilers, what spawned this idea is Harmony having a faint understanding about orgins of his power, but also severe lacks, similar to futuresight. We also know that shards have diffrent specializations. There is one that can listen to thoughts, one that can whisper to people, and I belive Honor's specialization would be watching into the past.

This is due to Connection. All shards have this ability. The shard is strongly connected with the others and Adonalsium so it makes sense Harmony can be faintly aware. I think Honor might be able to maybe seek out Connections into the past better than most, considering what you said. Like an opposite to Cultivation, she is supposedly much better with future predictions than Honor, but he could be better at seeking Connection or something. But Connection works both ways past and present, considering the Spiritual Realm is both past and present as well. So I think it could be an unrelated ability (considering the visions are his shardic ability, akin to Ruin/Preservation) that just happens by coincidence due to his intent, but that's stretching it a bit.
