So according to TVTropes, it's heavily implied that Zahel is Vasher from Warbreaker (Which I have yet to read- gonna finish Well of Ascension first) and that Nightblood returns as Szeth's new sword. I was wondering after having read it, so I decided to ask someone who actually read Warbreaker- or more specifically, a whole forum of them- for help understanding the connections.

It was fantastic! I could go on and on, but I just realized one of the ways that Brandon totally trolled us. He told us he could still do a viewpoint book after a character died. I thought it would probably suck, but tried to keep an open mind. He could still have a character really die and have flashbacks, of course.
But noooo, Szeth dies in WOR and will be the viewpoint character in Stones Unhallowed. Trolled!
That's something I wasn't fond of myself- how Szeth and Jasnah are shown to die and come back peachy.
Mind you, I loved the book (Read it over a week, finished this morning) but I feel like Part 3 won't be as great if Szeth's the viewpoint character, simply because I don't feel his backstory is as interesting as Dalinar, Eshonai or whoever else becomes a viewpoint character for books 6 through 10. That, and I just didn't like Szeth all that much after reading the scene where Kaladin points out that he's a coward (Talking of Kaladin, the semi-eventual scene where Shallan finds out he killed her brother should be good).

Welcome! Did you get Words of Radiance yet?
Not yet! Got the cash, just need to hit up a bookstore (The trouble of living in a small town).

I am always excited to meet a time traveler - your kind is just so much fun! Would you mind sending me the second and third book from the Reckoners trilogy, because they are not out yet now in 2014?
See, I have this flaw - I glance over people's posts, write a reply, then reread their posts and find out that I've missed an important part - such as that pesky "first books in" in your case. A good quip down the drawn. Drat!, as Shallan would say.
I guess I have to welcome you the boring way then. Welcome!
Boring works. Appreciated.

Hi. I'm Daniel (It's a pename I use- a bad experience with my real name last year got me using an alias), and I like reading. Stay tuned for more groundbreaking announcements.
I've currently read the first books in the Stormlight Archive, Mistborn The Original Trilogy and the Reckoners Trilogy (Seeing a pattern? In my defense, I picked up Mstborn because I was waiting for the other two to get new releases).
Anyway, about me: I'm an asexual student, I like fantasy and sci-fi RPGs, TV Shows that assume viewers can think for themselves, and liking pictures on Tumblr.

I'm gonna break this down by book:
Way of Kings: Kaladin's One Man Army trick after I learned that Parshendi were Voidbringers. I was like "That means Kaladin, armed with nought but a spear, fought Voidbringers... and WON. Holy God I'm gonna like this guy."
Alloy of Law: Marsh's cameo in the end.
Mistborn: Kelsier's first scene with Spook, it got me really hopeful he was coming back... but then Ruin had to be a dick.
