  1. Considering nobody in Bridge Four had any issues with Drehy's sexuality, I doubt Jasnah would feel the need to be closeted. Like where are you pulling that there hidden from? Drehy made no effort at all to hide his. Veil makes no effort to hide being attracted to woman either. From what we have seen Alethi society doesn't seem to place a ton of importance on it specifically.

Also, gotta say as somebody who has been in a relationship with an Ace/Heteromantic person before, having people talk about her sexuality not being lesbian as if its somehow "less" then it could have been is really disappointing. And is deeply uncomfortably similar to her experiences navigating real life spaces.

Like Ace people already get so much grief within LGBT spaces as is. Having a canon ace character being Heteromantic is not lesser then if she was Sapphic instead. She is still equally Ace regardless. Equally apart of the LGBT spectrum.

I have sympathy for people hoping for her to be gay, but the discussion around it in many places, even this thread a little have fallen squarely into that old problem of treating Lesbian/Gay as better and more valid then other Queer expression and boy do I not appreciate it. Not that I think anyone here is doing it on purpose. But its something to keep in mind.

  2. So, I was rereading Oathbringer to get ready for RoW. And this came up.

When Stormfather is talking about the Heralds and how they left one of there own behind when they abandoned the Oathpact, Dalinar immediately says Taln like he knew which one it was specifically. But its only a few paragraphs later where he realizes the Madman calling himself Taln really was him.

So how did he know which one it was? I feel like it must have been something in WoR I missed or was it something else? As far as I can tell nothing about what happened to Taln is known or in the scripture so how did Dalinar immediately know? Am I forgetting something aboutfrom WoR or a WoB?

    Thanks for any clarification

I think the most interesting take away from this for me isn’t one others may think of but it’s kaladin and at least his perception in that he is unique, the fused seem to have never seen anyone like him before, they don’t even seem to consider that kaladin could be skilled enough to kill lezian without powers and find it more likely for him to have shardplate then be able to do that. That indicates A level of skill they have never seen before and coupled with leshwi’s fascination with kaladin makes me think something about him is unique in all the desolations some part of his skill and the way he has managed to redound a radiant order quite successfully without any help and the fact that even the fused seem to be aware of his growing legend.

also I desperately want a leshwi pov chapter, I really want to know what’s driving her fascination with kaladin

I think Kaladin's uniqueness comes from essentially being everything you could want in a Radiant while also being basically totally divorced from the Old Order's roots. If your a Fused, every Radiant you ever fought came about from them following the Heralds and its a history that starts with man betraying the Singers. So even the most honorable of the old Radiant's would to the Fused have the taste of hypocrites and whitewashing there origins.

But Kaladin and his reborn Order came about with basically no help from anything related to the old besides Syl. So for someone like Leshwi seeing him genuinely live up to all those ideals of the Radiant's while also not really being tied to any of of the obviously very bitter past has to stand out.

Edit" Been gona a longgggggg time. Nice to see discussion here is still as thoughtful and fun as ever

  4. It started way before the Cosmere but Full Metal Alchemist, FEELS like a Cosmere series in hindsight. Alchemy and the way it works and how it's shaped it's world, all of it. The villain is basically a version of the Lord Ruler. It seriously feels like it would be pointless to have a Cosmere animated series because that's basically what FMA is.

If Brandon just said it was part of the Cosmere it would fit right in, hell I already know what the Shard's name would be.

    "Equivalency"

  5. Ha, poor Nazh is looking more and more like the Cosmere errand boy buttmonkey. I bet Khriss sends him out to do get really stupid stuff for her all the time.

    Nazh: Croissants!?

    Khriss: Yup, from Roshar.

Nazh: But Scandrial is the one with croissants, Roshar hasn't gotten that far yet

Khriss: Well, just go there and wait till there tech gets to that level.

    Nazh: But..

Khriss: No buts! This is important. It's for the security of the Cosmere, Odium rising, the God Beyond and all that jazz. Now go!

(Throws a screaming Nazh into Shadesmar)

  6. If it is him it's funny to imagine Harmony getting really tired of Kelsier's crap by now.

Harmony: What the hell man? You started killing Nobles again? When I specifically asked you not to?

Kelsier: I'm sorry my hand just slipped.....forty times........in twenty seconds...

Harmony: Your a ghost!! You don't have hands!!

  7. So for those who don't know, Noah Bradley is a professional artist best know for working on Magic the Gathering and his own personal project, "The Sin Of Man"

Now, besides being an absolutely incredible artist some of his "SOM" stuff is very Cosmere and specifically Roshar exc.

A lot of stuff that looks like Greatshells, Chasmfiends, and even Thunderlasts. Made me really hope Brandon someday hires him to work in the Cosmere proper because his art fits it perfectly. Just look.

Really cool, I highly recommend you check him out especially "SOM" and that Peter see's this, the Cosmere deserves each of it's worlds to have art like this alongside what were already getting in SA.

  8. Tragedy, my fellow Sharders! I just found out that we have been creating are not 'memes', but 'image macros'. The term 'meme' (in an internet context) refers to many different aspects of internet culture, our beloved 'image macros' being one of them. Just be glad I'm not pedantic enough to alter the title into the much-less-fun 'Sanderson Image Macros'.

NOOO IT WAS ALL A LIE!!

Well now we have to burn down the thread in a Pagan ritual....

It's obviously the only rational course of action in this horrifying situation.
