  1. Mistborn spoilers:

Marsh never screamed in his own head. Eshonai does hear screams. The difference seems suggestive of the Shardblade being the thing screaming at her.

Marsh was still his own man, though when Ruin directly possessed him, it altered his view of the world to be more Ruinous. It just seems like Eshonai is permanently having her view made more Odious. She, like Marsh, can very very likely take control of herself. She's shown herself to be strong-willed by controlling the urges of her previous forms. All she needs is one moment of clarity in a highstorm, and she can rid herself of her stormspren.

I fully expect Eshonai to make a comeback. She just needs one second when her gods are distracted and she's in a highstorm.

Does anyone think Adolin killed Eshonai when he pushed her off of the ledge? I don't think she died, being she is going to have a book of her own. She was a character I really liked. I was bummed when she couldn't stop her transformation to stormform. Maybe the trauma of falling into the chasm was enough to allow her to take control of herself.

  2. BloodFalcon recently posted in another thread:

He didn't want to discuss it in that thread, but I'm curious suddenly.

Does anyone here not support Adolin's killing of Sadeas? Why?

I was happy to see Sadeas dead. I'm not sure how I feel about Adolin doing it though. Right away, when I first read it, I though to myself, that is not going to end well. I can't believe Dalinar will be happy when he finds out Adolin did it. This might alienate Adolin from the rest of the family. I was just beginning to like him more.

  3. Interesting. It seems to me so obvious a connection that it must be wrong, yet no one is speaking of it. Along with the oathpact Honor has been shattered as well. It strikes me as an odd word choice for the stormfather/face in the wind to use, he in fact does change the way he talks about it later. Perhaps there is a reason why he used that particular word?

We really don't know much about the stormfather/face in the wind yet. We don't know who's side he/it is on. He could just be trying to screw things up for everyone. I can't wait to find out some of those things in the next book. My guess is that Brandon will toss some of the things we believe out of the window, and we will have/get to rethink a lot.

  4.  That is not the impression I had. Alethi are quite hot headed, and if someone took one of my precious shardblades I would be pretty pissed with him.

Duels are common, but not so much the ones betting Shards. Adolin duels in WoK with another Shardbearer, but does not win any  Shards. Or am I wrong?

My question is, why would anyone duel Adolin for shards when he is known as such a good dueler? Especially when he starts winning shards in WoR. Sadeas would be the same. It seems like a huge risk to bet shards on a duel against anyone who is even considered just "good".  A loss of a blade that is considered worth Kingdoms is a crazy risk.

  5. I believe the final line is "and his experience ended".

That said, if everything went dark, it supports the theory that he Lightweaved himself invisible. Invisible people would be blind since no light could be absorbed by their retinas.

That's what I was hoping for. It's fun to learn and see new surgebinders and what they can do. Hopefully Ym get away like Lift.

  6. I think you're right that Darkness has a way to locate anyone who is Surgebinding. He seems to have an equivalent of Allomantic bronze from Mistborn. The instant Lift gets Stormlight from food, he snaps his head to look at her. It's very curious.

I'm not sure why he didn't bother with Ym. Maybe because he figured that Ym had next to no gems, or that Ym was not a very strong man and could be killed easily, as opposed to a slippery child thief.

I don't think we have seen the end of the Ym interlude have we? If I recall it just says Everything went dark or something like that.

  7. WoK chapter: Darkness Unseen:

Quote " Gaz continued to watch over Kaladin's crew. And still that darkness waited for him. Like an itch that couldn't be scratched. Like a scream that couldn't be silenced. A tingling numbness that he could never be rid of. It would probably follow him even to death." /Quote

Maybe it's nothing. But having the chapter named Darkness Unseen makes me curious if something is happening there with Gaz.

I think don_karma_II is right. The wording of that quote made me immediately think of Darkness. The other side of that would be why wouldn't Darkness have stayed to take care of Kaladin?  Maybe he wasn't bonded enough will Sly yet?

  8. I am doubtful on the Sharplate mimicking Dawnshards because

and we don't know Shardplate to be able to bind anything. But they grow themselves when a part is missing, so Cultivation was most likely involved. And I really like the idea of Parshendi fighting along side Heralds and KR, it's very Brandon to misleads us like this. Perhaps the Dawnsingers are a lost parsh form.

I like the idea of Dawnsingers being a lost Parshendi form. Maybe the Dawnsingers were created to counteract the voidbringers, or stop the storms. Maybe Stormform was of Odium and the Dawnsingers were of Cultivation.

  9. Does the maturity of your spren determine how well a surge works?

It seems to me that it does. Kaladin didn't start doing awesome things until Sly was more developed. Once the bond developed more between them he started affecting larger events. Like the arrows on the bridge run that he pulled away from his crew. Previosly it was smaller things that others attributed to luck. I think that as Sly matured Kaladin's abilities were enhanced.

That may also mean that Shallan won't be able to change larger events until Pattern matures. Jasnah may have to be the one to save them on the ship.

  10. I voted for Jasnah mostly because I like her more than Shallan. I think Jasnah has probably spoken at least 1 already so it is not very likely, but I would like to see her do something awesome. They seem to be at a point where they're going to need something awesome to get out of their situation on the boat. I'm not sure the puppyspren can help Shallan much yet and Ivory is more developed.

  11. I'm new to this place so sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but when Adolin took Salinor's blade Salinor had to touch the gem to release his bondon the blade.

Salinor let the Blade slip from his fingers. Adolin took it and knelt beside Salinor, holding the weapon with pommel toward the man. “Break the bond.”

Salinor hesitated, then touched the ruby at the weapon’s pommel. The gemstone flashed with light. The bond had been broken.

What happened when Kaladin won the blade from the Shardbearer in WoK and then Amaram took it? Did Kaladin have a bond that had to be broken or hadn't a bond been established yet? Does he still have some kind of bond to Amaram's blade?
