  1. I had this strong epiphany-like moment after finishing the book related to the last paragraph of the book (apologies if i don't get it quite right):

It was not the end. There are no endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was an ending.

I had this wave of emotion wash over me as it occurred that this isn't the end of this story, this isn't the last book we will read in the story of the Wheel of Time. There are other Rands, Mats, and Perrins being reborn in other new books and new stories. The events we read will see rebirth in other new forms as new books are written and we continue to read. It was like I saw all of the past and future books stretch out before me, blending together into one epic that is the turning of the Wheel. TWoT is in a way a rebirth of The Lord of the Rings, and in turn we will see other books that will be born in the same spirit.

Let the Wheel of Time continue to turn!

What you said here was perfect. There are no endings and there never will be. It is just AN ending to a story that is a part of the wheel. They live on and even the ones who died will return once reborn. They were like good friends. They will continue to be great friends.

  2. For it being the first book in a destined ten, what has gripped you so far? What made you, when you read The Way of Kings, to go "wow, this is something." I mean, the fact you are on the forums means you must've at least liked the book if not loved. So what about the series so far has you hooked?

Btw, please keep this to a Stormlight Archive only topic. Please no answers of, "well, like his Mistborn series..." Or, "I love how his cosmos connect!" Just keep it strictly SA :)

  3. Here's the WoB on it, just for reference (a bit hard to hunt down, actually):

    Source:

So it's less obvious than Asmodean's killer. And they were arguing about it for a decade. Oh joy.

Actually, all he says is that he's not going to SAY it's as obvious as the Asmodean thing. Doesn't mean it is less obvious :)

  4. Spoilers for WoT:

The revelation of the killer in the "who killed Asmodean" issue ended up being pretty irrelevant to the overall series. I'm wondering if that's what Brandon meant when he compared Gaz situation to this. Perhaps what happened to Gaz will go away and when we learn what happened it'll be an ehhhh ok cool answer.

  5. Welcome to the forums! Watch out for horrifying delicious spikes cookies!

I'm not familiar with many theories on what happened to Gaz, but I'd guess Asmodean.

Gaz is tricky. He just up and disappeared on us. I suppose it's possible that he was assassinated, though why you would assassinate a down on his luck miserable SOB sergeant like Gaz is beyond me. It's also possible he was executed, but he was around after Lamarils execution, and kind of disappeared when nothing was happening IIRC, so I don't know of any particular reason he would be executed outside of whatever he was being blackmailed over. I believe that it was hinted by Brandon that he went the way of Asmodean, so it's unlikely he is alive, but I like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks! And yeah I read that quote about the Asmodean thing as well... I just don't remember any clues that would have hinted at who would want to kill Gaz... Besides everyone.
