I'm on my phone so I don't have the exact quote, but I'm fairly certain that the blood in the prelude is violet, not purple. Might be splitting hairs, but knowing BS's attention to detail, this could be significant. I always suspected the violet blood would turn out to be Aimian.
Hmmmmm. this is very true... but I will keep assuming it was from a chasmfiend

I think that the symbiotic relationship could have somthing to do with the fact that chasmfiends make chrysalises and wait for high storms. Perhaps the chasmfiend is able to obsorb huge amounts of stormlight and then the spren use it for some purpose...
I don't know but hey, tell me what you think!

Well, the chasmfiends to me always smacked more of Cultivation. But who knows? There was the listing of blood colors in the Prelude where Kalak mentions red blood (human), orange blood (Parsh presumably), and purple blood. We know from the hunt that chasmfiends have purple blood. So it appears that greatshells of some kind participated in the last battle of the last desolation.
Edit: Master, you ninja'd me!
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I like this theory and the reasoning behind It, and I have a few things to add as well, If you have not seen these already...
in the prelude Kalak notices that the red, orange, and purple blood mix. We know from chapter 13 that the blood from chasmfiends is purple, so it is not so much of a strectch to say that chasmfiends could have been there.
Brandon also said to someone who asked "What are the smoke-y spren that appear around a dead chasmfiend?"
"They are in a symbiotic relationship with the chasmfiend, and are part of what allow the creatures to grow to the size they do with an exoskeleton. (Along with a high-oxygen, lower-gravity world.)"
The chasmfiend could protect the spren, and in return the spren help it grow larger.

I don't believe this to be the case, if the spren were transformed into Blades and possessing those blades granted Surgebinding abilitys, then everyone with a Shardblade would have the potential ability to Surgebind and we just don't see that.
After reading Aethers thread and seeing your comment I am inclined to agree, but I just want to throw out some arguments just for fun.

I will say that these are only half way thought through and have lots of holes in them so feel free to tell me everything wrong with them.
Theory 1.
All of the other blades have somehow been corrupted through improper use? The shin were somehow able to protect this one?
Theory 2.
Maybe like a fabrial a spren was somehow trapped in the blade... I don't remember if szeths blade had a gem or not...
Theory 3. The Voidbringers/Odium were able to somehow capture a radiants spren and use it to give voidbringers radiant powers...
Anyway, these are terrible and I know it, but have fun ripping them to Shreds!!!

Thanks Aether, there is a lot of interesting things in that forum that I have not seen yet!

It was almost totally confirmed, or so it seemed to me, that Szeth wielded Jezerezeh's honorblade.
Oh... thanks!
I will have to find that.

I don't know if this has already been dicussed or if it has any merit at all, But I was looking through some other forums about spren creating, or developing plate, or shardblades.
Could Szeths blade be an honor spren that has been transformed into a blade? And because It is an honor spren it allows him to have the abilities of a windrunner while he has it.... no blade, no powers
It would explain why his is so unique and different from other blades
feel free to tear this apart

Master, don't know if it was intentional on your part, but I've just seen something I can not pass up. Time to get your The Clash on:
Sharif don't like it
Rock and Jasnah
Rock and Jasnah
Definately not intentional, but funny =)

If/when Jasnah and Shallan reach the shattered planes will Rock be able to see their spren, because he is alaii'iku? Seeing as he is able to see Syl it is only reasonable to assume he would be able to, and if he does, how would Jasnah or her spren react to this. Jasnah's secretiveness would make me think that she would either:
A- Panic and try to leave/avoid the situation as soon as possible.
or:
B- Threateningly question how he is able to see her spren.
It would also be interesting to see Shallan's reaction to this.
I am excited to see how Rock's unique abilities will be revealed more in depth and how he will affect the story.

Chasmfiends, Voidbringers, and Smoke

well, not quite sure if this proves, or disproves it but I found this in a different thread:
Q: Have any Chasmfiends managed to mature? Or have they all been caught before they could finish?
Brandon: You've already seen one. The enormous Chasmfiend that Dalinar fought was one that had successfully matured. You haven't seen what they start out as...
I'm not quite sure what to make of this quote since "mature" is kind of vague but it is somthing interesting to add....
It would seem that somehow the chasmfiends that make chrysalises are at least physically, different from the Chasmfiend in the hunt from what Brandon said.
Edit: I found in the hunt chapter where he says that violet ichor spurted out or something so we do know that chasmfiends really do have violet blood.
