  1. Someone has probably thought of this before, but I will ask it anyway...

If you have 3 different kinds of marbles, and someone tells you that you may have three, there are ten possible combinations. Is it possible that this is why there are ten orders of Radiant, with Cultivation, Honor and Odium each contributing (willingly or otherwise)?

  2. Re-reading WoR, and this is what I have so far:

Is the sun in Shadesmar the same sun as it is in the physical realm? Is it the same distance away?

Do Rashadium (sp?) only choose potential surgebinders?

Can the Parshendi feel the Thrill?

Do all the Shards have an opposite aspect (Ruin/Preservation, Devotion/Dominion)?

  3. I don't know if we've seen any signs of actual power-hunger on the part of Tarivangian. He is ambitious in his goal, and certainly in his process, but I have seen nothing from him regarding himself but disgust and determination.

  4. Yes, sorry - I should have said the only group. Most importantly though, the KR represented an united front against the desolation. With the current leadership, I think Taravangian is worried that looming disaster would cause politicing and scheming rather than humanity-saving action.

  5. Not necessarily suddenly, Gloom. And even if it is a recent thing, we know that many interesting things are going on on Roshar these days - it seems like the Heralds are becoming active again (Shallash, for example, couldn't have been destroying art of herself for 4,500 years; if she had been, there would be none left), Surgebinders are apparently appearing left and right, Honor has triggered the infodump safety protocol, and we might even get a Radiant here and there sometime soon.

So the Ta'veren are spun out of the pattern once more....

  6. I have the feeling that if Taravangian learns that Dalinar is a KR (assuming he is), the hit will be called off. IMO, Taravangian is trying to restore the only order that ever had a chance of fighting off a desolation without the Heralds themselves.

  7. What if Taravangian is just clearing the way for new leadership? So the Rand al'Thors and the Eland's of the world can come to power? People who will be needed to lead as the Everstorm brews.

So Taravangian is a good guy - in a disturbingly pragmatic and sociopathic kinda way.
