What makes you so confident to announce that these books will be available in print? The way I understood Brandon he explictly noted that there might not be retail print versions.

That's a great example! I know there were a lot on our list we didn't even get to due to time, but I'm not sure if that was one there.
Not podcasting myself I assume I overlook that every 2+ hour episode probably leaves material for double that time on the table. Maybe you can revisit it next Halloween.

Thanks for this great episode! I really like it when you guys go a bit more into literary criticism from time to time. One thing I would have liked for you to explore (and maybe that could be a topic for similar future discussions) is the consequences of Brandon's use of horror. How does it change the texts? Why does Brandon use it the way he does? Why are some elements or sub-genres of horror more prevalent and why are others basically non-existent in Brandon's works?
Other than that: I'm used to Eric ignoring "Sixth of the Dusk" but in a rare non-Eric episode that deals with horror I was quite surprised that none of you guys mentioned it. The shadows in the sea were already mentioned. More generally, the whole structure of "Sixth of the Dusk" is a quite bit of a horror-journey and liberally uses various elements of that genre.

Great episode (as always), thanks for getting Brandon on there and for asking him so much interesting stuff.

Oh boy, I've had it at home for five days now, but I started in earnest yesterday. After a hundred pages this already feels very different from Oathbringer. I have to say that trying to read slowly and deliberately but fighting the constant urge to rush through pages is quite the struggle. I'm totally not used to dealing with something I had anticipated for so long...

Sounds good; probably going for e-book and the shelf-version later when it comes out. It's just impossible to skip a book for weeks or maybe even months, just because these pesky print-versions are delayed

Sounds great. Do we know anything about Dawnshard being available as a stand-alone book for non-kickstarter backers?

yeah, because he totally doesn't have already more than enough open projects that he should end
It's not like he is doing any of the drawings or even writing the dialogue for those, so I wouldn't assume there is a lot of pushback for his other projects timewise.

Also, Brandon just said in one of the Skyward-WoBs that Doomslug eats mushrooms and that is actually going to be important. So yeah, I agree, the mushrooms seem a bit too ominous to be purely a joke.

A pity, but as long as he stays commited to churning out Stormlight-epics I'm fine with some pauses.

This was a great read. I don't even think discussions questions would be necessary in the future - sometimes, if an article is well written, there is just not much to add.

What a great cover. And what an awesome synopsis. Sounds like an RPG being written down. This is going to be the first non-Cosmere work I will order (the others sound just a tad too YA for my taste), although I'm quite sad it is non-Cosmere. This should have been an amazing fit in the later, more sci-fi stages of the Cosmere-timeline. Anyhow, I'll just trust Brandon on it being a bad fit in the Cosmere, he has earned definitely earned my trust

Oh my. I'll provide you with some prompts which should enable you to finish the story on your own:
I just moved.
I just put all my clothes into my new wardrobe.
I just made a mental note, that six piles of t-shirts is enough.

Thanks for the response. I´m really looking forward to hearing more ShardCasts! It´s such an enjoying yet insightful way to stay in touch with the Cosmere. Also, I really like your sense of humor and you people constantly teasing and mocking each other

A question concerning the last information: I can´t seem to find the illustrious thread where said illustrious Mi´chelle presents her project - anybody mind helping me out?
On another note: Is there any chance another shardcast is going to be released anytime? I really enjoyed them and would be happy if the format was continued.

Ian's idea about Autonomy splitting and ultimately being at odds with itself is very interesting. It brought Ann Leckie's Ancillary-series to my mind, where something very similar is the central premise - it works quite well in there and I could absolutely see Autonomy trending in that direction.
