  1. Um what?! That can't be good... Ok. Tondon will probably sulk around till he finds some duralumin anyway, so I don't need to worry about retrospective alliances. Thanks, both of you!
  2. Two days, 21 pages. How did this even happen? Anyway, I'm lost. Can somebody summarize whatever happened so I can figure out what Tondon would have been doing? I'll do my best to post regularly, but I have a lot of homework to do.
  3. I've tried to do "basic" magic tricks, but it didn't work very well. Maybe if I have the time, I'll learn how to do some better ones. In a world with actual magic, I don't know how popular stage magic would be, but I'll do some speculation. "I will now make this person disappear!" "Boring. They're obviously a Willshaper." Sliders or steelrunners could perform slight of hand tricks at high speed, similar to Wayne's quick costume changes. Iron or steel allomancy could be used to move things around, perhaps openly. An iron misting could tie streamers to some metal balls, then juggle them magically as a performance. Lightweaving makes stage magic way too easy. Just use illusions to hide or create things. Forgery might be especially well suited to magic tricks, especially once word of other magic systems gets out, which would make some things more plausible (even though those magic systems wouldn't actually help, because the concept of "weird alien magic can probably do it" definitely extends to things that are impossible). Awakened objects could be helpful. Make a really tight ball of scarves, then command it to "Untie when touched", to make it decompress and spring out of a hat. On a performance related side note, I wonder if I could tell a rope to "dance as if you were me". Although actually, I'm not that good at dancing, so just "dance" is a better command. Anyway, I'm out of initial ideas, but if this thread doesn't just end, I'm exited to see what other people come up with.
  4. Thank you for reading this. Cowloss is a much better name than kow. Maybe even spell it kowloss? Part of the kowloss idea was initiating the transformation then immediately slaughtering the resulting creature for the now increased amount of hide which could be made into blue leather. Other possibility for transformation include horses and oxen (both for farm work and for riding by human koloss), chickens (might provide really big eggs), and hunting dogs (maybe for keeping by koloss, maybe by very brave humans). True. Pewter could also allow for reduction of muscle mass, then tapping in bursts for extra strength and the feruchemical enhancement effect, which would hopefully prevent heart failure. I just though of using cadmium to tap breath, oxidizing the blood to help relieve the heart stress. The issue with unsealed or hemalurgic iron is that you can only get so much iron to store in. As the koloss go older, it would take more and more storage space. However, storing while tapping to provide the feruchemical resilience side effect might work? It's possible I have no idea what I'm talking about. If hemalurgy can make anything, what happens if you convince a chromium compounder to help you?
  5. As said in the title, here are some random koloss related ideas I had, from least to most absurd. Kinda boring. Use koloss to construct things, because they're really strong. Not much else to say for this one. Have koloss fill unsealed metalminds, both to minimize koloss related problems, such as falling through wood floors, and to donate attributes to those who need them. This is likely already an established use of koloss. Possibilities include: Weight, strength, warmth, determination, wakefulness, health (koloss heal faster than humans, right?), and energy/calories (they can live off dirt). Maybe speed, investiture, connection (which could allow them to weaken other creatures control over them), and breath as well. Koloss cousins! Using the other three kandra blessings (tin, zinc, and copper), we can create new kinds of koloss-like creatures. They would have enhanced senses, emotional control, or intelligence. There will probably be side effects, such as a drop in other attributes, turning blue (or maybe a different color), and a physical increase in the effected trait. Hmm, does anybody know of somebody who turned blue and has a really massive brain? Anyway, I'm going to go on a really long tangent in which I try to predict the results of the spiking by comparing the side effects of the koloss transformation, which I will place in a spoiler box cause it might take a while to scroll past. Hybrid koloss. Take one blessing pair, perhaps the copper one, and spike an ordinary koloss with it for more tactical ability. You could even use all four! (Assuming that the bind points aren't mutually exclusive.) Koloss cows! Henceforth referred to as kows, the gist of this completely crazy but potentially possible idea is to give four iron spikes to a cow, transforming it into a very blue, very fast growing kow. Benefits include: Because koloss skin becomes really baggy at the beginning of the process, you can get a lot of very blue, very fashionable leather from relatively young kows. Additionally, these hardy livestock can literally survive off gravel if need be. They also grow very large, and thus have a whole lot of potentially meat. *In really fast disclaimer voice:* Side effects may occur. Consuming hemalurgic meat is potentially cannibalism, and might cause spiritweb modifications, or even death. Dragonheir inc. cannot be held responsible for having your farm be overthrown by bipedal supercows caused by the transfer of human attributes. Honestly it's probably safer and more ethical to just spike the cows to get the strength. Koloss trees!? Do plants even have spiritwebs? What am I even going to do with several tons of blue birch bark? (Maybe some other plants and animals are a better idea.) Minor stormlight spoilers: Anyway, that concludes Dragonheir's stupid ideas he got during swim team practice, koloss edition. If anybody wants to add to the list, elaborate on something, or tell me why one of these wouldn't work, please do!
  6. Ok, great. While tapping duralumin, Tondon gains increased ironsight range, and while storing, it's decreased.
  7. Thank you! Time to follow this and get like 50 notifications tomorrow.
  8. Tondon is an iron-duralumin twinborn. The blue iron lines that show up when he burns iron are actual things in the spiritual realm, and some WoBs I'm to lazy to look up right now say that shardblades can cut them, and that they can otherwise be manipulated. Because tapping a duraluminmind causes increase in connection, I think it should do something like extend the ironsight's range or empower pull velocity, but I'm not entirely sure which, so I thought I'd ask a GM, for balance purposes.
  9. There's a chat thread? Can I have it? Also, character related question; what happens to iron lines if I tap or store connection? There seems to be nothing canon about it, but I'd like Tondon to have a twinborn resonance (I guess it's actually a power combo).
  10. Maybe? I think Sanderson books and the 17th shard attract a specific personality type with common interests. I've encountered several people in real life who are basically just me (Or maybe I'm basically them), so finding another one online is likely. So you see, dragons live a long time. I think I may be 1/4294967296th dragon, which leaves me pretty much human. (I literally have no idea when I started using dragonheir as my username for everything, or why. I blame unsealed copperminds.)
  11. Ok, that sounds good. Do we start with equipment?
  12. Hello! I'm new to the shard (I was directed here by Ancient Elantrien, who responded to my introduction post), but not to Sanderson or roleplaying games, so this sounds fun. How does fighting and the like get resolved? Do we roll dice, argue with one another to convince a GM, or something I haven't though of?
  13. Probably a decent amount. I don't really know how much it weighs, but if I have cheese nachos for lunch, I believe I usually eat around two cups of cheese sauce. A RAFO. I think Brandon signs those sometimes. Maybe Invention? I like building things, but another shard might fit better. We'd need to get the multi-sentence intent descriptions for each one for me to decide for sure.
  14. Am I coming to them, or are they coming to me? I'd probably just use the time to figure out the answers to RAFO questions. Hoid, if he would tell me anything, or Kriss, or Navani, or somebody who makes the Malwish-tech, or TLR (if he wouldn't kill me on the spot), or Dusk, or whoever knows the other six lumar spores, or a shard. Sazed is a nice person, who gives good advice, and Wayne would be fun to talk to, and would make a day way longer than it would otherwise. I could try spending a day with the Nightwatcher for the boon (the ability to go to and from the Cosmere whenever I want) and maybe a Radiant bond. Basically, I can't choose (but I want magic, information, or both). Said story also has a Phonomancer in it. Resonant frequencies, shock-waves, ambient music, and destructive interference are fun powers.
  15. Thank you! It's nice to meet you.
  16. Thanks!
  17. Sounds interesting. Can I have a link? What's it charged with? I'll probably just measure the investiture weight and decay. Chronomancy is fun. One of the characters in a story I never got around to writing can jump back in time about ten seconds at a time to protect or warn their past self. There's some magic stuff that lets them avoid causing paradoxes. Actual precognition and time slowing are also handy. What about you?
  18. Thank you! It's nice to meet you. Does Urithiru count? After RoW, it seems like a safe location to be, and I could meet all the main characters, as well as do some fabrial research. I'd try to get answers to all the RAFO questions about them, and maybe even help the main characters by inventing bendalloy fabrials or something. It's nice to meet you! Thank you! I'll probably join an SE game at some point. Roleplaying might have some lore for me to learn before it join that, though. Thank you! Thanks! I'll take your cookie. What kind is it? The spike's metal, I mean. You're not fooling me. But a chance to calculate investiture density is a good opportunity.
  19. Hi Everybody! I'm Dragonheir, pronouns he him, and I'm new to the shard (as this thread may indicate). It'd be nice if there was a template or something, but I'll do my best. I'm as high-schooler, and have been reading Brandon Sanderson for several years. I read Rithmatist in a library, then Reckoners, but the Stormlight Archive was what caused me to become really interested in his books. In the last six months or so, I've read the standalone cosmere books, and a this point am only missing the Alcatrez series, Perfect State, and maybe a non-cosmere short story or two. I recently found the shard attempting to figure out whether shardplate was waterproof or not, and I must have read half the in-depth theories and coppermind pages by now, as well as many WOBs. I'm beginning to think that a certain Stormlight character must have made a couple dozen shard accounts on a particular plot-related day. I'm somewhat of a procrastinator, demonstrated by the fact that I read more cosmere theories instead of writing this introduction last month. I have a layman's understanding of many science and physics concepts, and enjoy reading fantasy and sci-fi, (Sanderson has raised my standards a bit, as several other people on here have complained), as well as spending hours worldbuilding something I'll never get around to writing. At least initially, I'll probably spend my time here thinking of ways to exploit the magic systems (Sanderson typically makes that hard to do), reading and commenting on other people's theories, and maybe writing my own. Who knows, maybe I'll even join the roleplaying or Sanderson elimination forums. I like playing D&D, and I'm also on the D&DBeyond forums, although I've become inactive as of late, due to reading 17th shard stuff (Whatever Kabsal bets with to you if you can guess my username there). I've also been meaning to check out the MAG, but haven't done so yet. There's some Shard customs I've yet to understand, such as [adjective or profession] ! [character] and whatever espousing a theory is supposed to mean, so it'd be nice if somebody helped me with that. I'll take a cookie, but there's no way I'm gonna fall for the hidden spike trick and eat it. Maybe I can find something else to do with it... Anyway, I ran out of things to say, so I'll stop now. A preemptive nice to meet you to everybody. -Dragonheir
