“Interesting… Thank you. Would sharing this information be acceptable, as long as we do not give directions to your island?” Nick does not take the sword; it would better serve someone who truly knew how to use it. “I will see if I can give you knowledge in return. Where I come from, everything is made of small particles called atoms, which are made of even smaller particles. If you can go small enough, you can collide or split them, which would transmute substances and potentially cause explosions.”

“Yes, and he threw it somehow, it also kept changing weight. He and an army attacked the town we appeared in, but when he died he turned to dust, leaving behind some crystals. Do you think fighting the army caused any problems? They’ve surrendered, now, so I don’t think we can do anything about it.”

Once, there was an Idea. The Idea began to grow, as ideas tend to do, and it became part of a larger idea. The Idea was an idea for an Idea that could bring ideas to reality. Thus, the Idea brought itself into reality, the larger idea becoming a place around it. The Idea merely created ideas of what it would look like when it was observed, but the place was an ordinary place. It was barren - as it was not a very well thought out idea - but it was a place, and more ideas, through the Idea, would make it more interesting. The Idea sat in this barren place, and it touched more ideas - not by design, and not very closely, but it did touch them. One of these idea planes seemed to implode, and, because the idea was a bit connected to it, some of that idea plane tumbled out of where the Idea sat, saved from oblivion. A swarm of many small, rust colored objects tumbled from the Idea, then gathered themselves into a dome and looked around. “I teleported, like the not-alive people. That is strange,” they warble through a slightly broken speaker.

“Do I get anything for that? Why was the man bleeding so much?” Cole cleans his saw using his tent-coat.

Ah, but there is only water on one side in my example, so the membrane could point that direction. I wonder if it would osmosis…

Not necessarily; say it’s made from a single sheet of phospholipids. You touching it would probably destroy it, though.

*poof!* I am here to complicate this question further! If I have a one molecule thick membrane, which has no water on the side you’re touching, but a lot of water on the other, is the membrane wet?

Cole swings his saw at the man, accomplishing nothing. So he catches the man’s arm, and holds it still so he can actually use the saw. (I will not describe that further, partially because I have no idea what a saw would do to human flesh.)

“Interesting… there were people from where we were last; a man in armor said something about Kibirium keeping him alive. I have encountered several so-called magical crystals thus far, but I suspect that different universes have different rules. They each seem to possess one fundamental change in physics, typically resulting in something that could be described as magic, and are in different time periods, technology wise.” The One uses his magic, suspending Nick in the air. “Whoa. You can do this casually? Imagine what you’d be capable of if you tried your hardest… If you attempt to help us, I believe I have some secrets that could be of use to you, assuming the fundamental laws of physics are the same here as where I come from. The raw energy that powers our teleportation coalesces around us when we are about to do so. It is a bright yellow, and seems incredibly energy dense.”

@The Aspiring Archivist @Spark of Hope A man holding two guns in one hand, trailed by two (maybe three) other people walks past in the hall. “Do any of you know where containment cells are?” he asks, still walking.

@Calamity_Engine Veer leads the two through the clinic, searching for anyone who can get them locked up before anything bad happens. He’s breathing heavily simply from the walking, and the rash on his shoulder has become dimmer, greyscale reflections rather than prismatic colors.

Cole jumps, stumbles, and flies backwards. He has no true idea of how to fight, but his higher reach with the tent pole is counteracting that.

“Interesting… so it reassembles itself? I suppose it doesn’t matter; physics is crying in a corner right now, I expect. I and my assistant SIMON will take the oath. I will attempt to fully remove this from my memory - is there any information I may keep?” Nick sighs. “That would be the machine, I expect. There is a man who created a device that pulls people between universes for his own amusement; our group is the result. Is there anything you can do or tell us? Anything about raw power or how to channel it?”

Veer pulls himself together. “My homeland does not have stories of werewolves, whatever they are. But my powers were manipulated somehow; made wild. I gained capabilities I shouldn’t possess and used them on people and objects merely by noticing them. The surge subsided, but it’s coming back, I think. If you don’t come quietly, I think I could tear you and potentially the Clinic apart.” @Calamity_Engine

“No one leaves? Are you powerful enough to block the machine? Why do you keep people here, anyway? And how would you survive the falls - would we? And the island, for that matter; it’s breaking apart.” Nick appears to have forgotten the gravity of the situation. (Literal gravity, in this case.)
-
“If you allow me to leave before we land, I would be honored.”
-
“Well, first you need to completely and utterly outmatch the people; being able to turn their weapons against them qualifies. Next, you need an ulterior motive for leaving your opponents alive, and finally, you need to lack the ability to actually kill your opponents in an efficient manner unless they attack you first. Usually, I have a sling and sharpened darts in order to attack. And anyway, I need these two alive so I can find and kill their leader. After all, there’s nothing they could do to stop me…” Suddenly, he convulses, then stops, breathing heavily. “Oh no. We need to get these people imprisoned fast. Then I need somewhere to go where I won’t hurt anyone.” @SpiritOfWrath

“I don’t have sharp fingernails, though. So you’re wrong, although I don’t know why I thought a hallucination should make sense.” Cole holds his tent pole and saw in a terrible attempt at a fighting stance. He screeches back, much less intimidatingly. His clothes billow and flap dramatically in the magical wind.

“I know that! But Glinte does, and you can teleport anywhere rather than just shadows. The only shadow down there is from the island, so Glinte can get us down, and you can teleport us to solid ground, so nobody drowns or has a floating island land on their head!”
-
Cole has been feeling strong for a while; of course, he thinks it’s merely that adjusting the tent so it didn’t drag on the ground made moving in general more comfortable. Still, the screech and surge of strength get his attention, and he pulls out the best weapons available to him: a carpentry saw and a tent pole with fabric still attached. “It’s a tree! Pine, to be exact; not particularly good for building most things.” Then, realizing everyone else heard the screech and it wasn’t simply burnt man messing with him, he amends his statement. “Actually, I think the startling thing might be an angry hawk-bear, or something similarly strange.”
