    The emperor was dead, and she was leaving the palace. If it had just been that, she'd have been ecstatic. But the truth of the matter was that there was more to it. She was still an heir, and she was still a member of the imperial family. She didn't look at any of the guards around them, and she only looked at December's back.

    Kal shifted from his knees to sitting normally. He tried not to look around. It was all a too painful reminder that he wasn’t with his family, and that he was nowhere near them.

    The front end of a shriek erupted from his mouth, but he silenced himself. He pressed against them initially, but stopped hearing Vvondin’s call. He made another sound as he was lifted back and floated suspended in the wall. When the hand pulled him out, he fell to his hands and knees. With one hand he shielded his eyes from the bright lights. @Ookla the Inconclusive
