Felicity had broken off a bit ago from the group. She knew Aela would notice that something was wrong, and Aela couldn’t know. Lissy didn’t want her to worry.
Cye approached her. She tensed and turned away. “Hey.”
She didn’t answer.
“Is everything okay?”
”I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.”
”… so something’s wrong.”
”N-no!”
”People don’t say ‘don’t worry about it’ if there’s not something to worry about. You just don’t want me to know.”
She hesitated and muttered, “I don’t want Aela to know.”
”I don’t have to tell her,” Cye said softly. “But if it’s a big deal, you should eventually. Maybe she can help you.”
Felicity watched her toes.
”So can you tell me what’s wrong?”
”… Madness. She got in my head.”
”Madness… that was the one who…”
She nodded.
Cye looked at her. “You don’t seem like you’re not fully aware of everything.”
”I… She can’t force me to do anything. She’s just… there. Mirth protects me from going fully…”
”Gotcha. Well.. this definitely isn’t something you should hide. You should tell Aela.”
”You said you wouldn’t tell her!”
”And I won’t. But you should.”
”But I…” she turned and glanced at Aela, then looked back at her toes. “I don’t want her to worry about me.”
”It looks to me like she already does. She seems like a big sister to you. She’s always looking out for you.”
Felicity didn’t answer.
“You don’t have to tell her yet. But you should soon.”
There was a moment of silence between them. After it was clear that that conversation died, Cye asked, “Can I call you Mouse?”
Felicity looked up at him. “What?”
”Its just… you’re quiet, you have big eyes… you’re cute…”
She blushed.
“You know, like a mouse.”
She looked down and nodded a bit. “Yeah. That’s okay.”
Cye nodded. “Alright.” After a second, he put his arm around her. She tensed for a moment, then relaxed.
