  1. I like your theory. There was one line from the second Letter however that has always made me wonder if Hoid was rather one of those involved in the creation and or splintering of Adonalsium and it is this. 'He is what we made him to be, old friend.' - the letter in regards to Rayse. This is from the second letter, I guess a reply to Hoids first and must be from whoever the old reptilian is. I get the feeling that parts of your theory are there and maybe some of whoever or whatever Hoid was, was changed at the shattering in some way along the lines your theory suggests. I'm hoping to go to BYU and actually read the full Liar of Partinel thesis. So hopefully I can get a better idea on who Hoid is, although I'm aware that a lots probably changed in Brandon's canon since then. But you never know. Also, I really enjoy reading Long theories, especially concerning Hoid.
  2. Hi, I'm going to be in Utah tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible for a non student to get into the library there and read Brandon's thesis work on Dragonsteel as I can't think of a better way to spend my time other than sneaking in on one of Brandon's lessons.
  3. I'm in Nashville travelling through the US, making my way slowly to Boston for the 17th of march. Couldn't think of a more appropriate time for a Cosmere meet up. But then again I have the freedom at the moment to literally hop around where ever.
  4. I'd have to go with the Skybreakers I like their philosophy and Darkness/Nalan is as cool as it gets.
  5. Hopefully this works this time.
  6. I got this Skybreaker tattoo done in Austin the other day. At first I only got the Honourblade and then I decided I needed the glyphs as well. May get the Immortal words down the rest of my arm, although we only know of two so far. Maybe I can persuade Brandon to let me in on on them.
  7. Got the Skybreaker tat done in Austin.
  8. It also kinda make sense that if they worship Taln, the only Herald to uphold his part of the Oathpact, then in the same way they would uphold their oaths to their Oathstones. Even to the insane lengths that Szeth does.
  9. Sounds plausible I suppose.
  10. But can you say that your 100% certain of that?
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if learning to use Shadesmar granted you certain abilities such as mastery of all languages in the Cosmere. I doubt that just travelling there is enough to grant someone the ability to use its gifts, but Shadesmar is of the Cognitive Realm which touches upon all of the Shardworlds and so it stands to reason that that knowledge could well be hidden within.
  12. Mind boggling theory. A little like going into a dream, within a dream, within a dream
  13. Wow, this is a pretty cool theory and has some solid grounding to it. It also could explain one thing that’s been bugging me about Midius/Hoid. Why did Midius take on Hoid's persona in the first place, why steal it?
  14. This could also explain how Hoid is always able to communicate with the people of other Shardworlds.
  15. Just a random thought as I'm rerereading through the book. This line on page 62 got me thinking: He was a business conection of her family's, long trusted by her father. I was wondering if perhaps Tozbek could be a member of the Ghostbloods. He seems to want to wait around for Shallan and even though his excuse is that her family invested a lot into his shipping business, I'm curious as to whether this is the actual case. Yalb does seem to wait a long time for her outside the Conclave and although it seems as if they are interested in her safety, I'm wondering if it maybe more than that.
  16. True. Its probably just that. I guess I've just begun to question everything in this book now. Would be cool though if it did somehow have some conection to the Heralds imprisonment.
  17. Maybe it will. Or maybe it will just stay there as a scar on the heavens.
  18. Taln's Scar - a swath of deep red stars that stood out vibrantly from the twinkling white ones - was high in the sky this season. I know that this verse is meant to be a foreshadowing for events to come in the epilogue, but I'm wondering if there’s something more to it. Could Taln's Scar actually be something more than just a swath of red stars named after the abandoned Herald. Could it be a manifestation of Taln's torture and pain splashed across the heavens.
  19. Cool, I'll have to do my 4th reread for this one. Looking forward to it.
  20. I like the one over at Tor but I feel that there could be a more indepth one on this site.
  21. Cool, so that means we have Honourblades, whatever type of blade Szeth is wielding and the standard Alethi blades.
  22. Shardspears would be cool. I think the evidence for the blades we have seen are in the images we have seen of swords so far. There is one on the cover of the hardback edition and I can't remember where the other two originate from but I have one printed on a shirt I bought on the Inkwing site.
  23. That makes me wonder if perhaps there may be ten types of different Shardblade, one for each Order of the KR.
  24. When I was at a Brandon Sanderson signing I did ask him if Dawnshards were a type of Shardblade and he did give me a RAFO card so I would guess that there not not Shardblades. Although I don't think Dawnshards are blades, I think they might have been something used by the Dawnsingers to creat the Dawncities, like Urithiru. I guess Honourblades could count although Kalak does say that they are different from Shardblades. I'm not sure if Honourblades could be considered just to be a type of Shardblade as they may be something completley different like Splinters of Honour or something.
  25. Anyone know what the three different types of Shardblades, said to be in TWoK, are. I know Szeth's blade is different from say Oathbringer, but I'm not sure why it is different. Is there any information out there on the different types or is it all just speculation for the moment. And whats the third type of Shardblade we've seen?
