  1. …just in time to see a monstrous creature take flight, beating wide wings like streaked stone, ascending impossibly quick into the sky. A girl was riding that beast, screaming with joy all the while. The other rider, perhaps not.
  2. “Longinus’ spren,” Mercyrose answers, offhandedly, not looking back. “They’ll totally contribute to your audience, right?” Then, Longinus reaches the clearing, looking up towards the sky. He makes a small sound, so very trumpet-like. “Oh, we’re ready!” Mercyrose cheers.
  3. Mercyrose grumbles at Longinus’ insolence, her face going through a series of expressions before she scoffs. “Lazy bum,” she says, before looking back at Sarel. “Fear not, he’s just too lazy to barrel through some lowly trees. Soon!” Meanwhile, several more spren appear, of the same variety. Glowing arrowheads with trailing tails, floating aimless around Sarel.
  4. Mercyrose give her an odd look as she hums, before returning to the countenance of an adventurer. “Alright!” she says, “Prepare yourself!” She gives Longinus another pat and he slowly rises back to his full height, staring at the trees. “Go forth, and make an exit for our humble party, Longinus!” He does no such thing. Instead, he turns around and heads back to the clearing.
  5. “Psh!” Mercyrose says. “This’ll go much better.” She adopts a commanding pose and tone of voice as she addresses Longinus. “Steed! Grab the music woman!” Longinus turns and stretches forth a single leg towards Sarel. Like a ramp.
  6. “That’s good enough for me!” Mercyrose declares. She gives Longinus a few firm pats and the beast flops onto the ground with a loud thump. Mercyrose peers over at Sarel, grinning girlishly. “Have you ever flown before?”
  7. Mercyrose gazes up at the canopy. Hard to see, but she may be smiling. “What’s the range on that?” she asks.
  8. Mercyrose breaks off from her staring at Pulse. “Where to, dya think?” She motions vaguely to the neverending woods. “Pulse wants me to find this kidnapper before leaving, or summin’. Can’t say I got any plan for that ‘sides wandrin about.”
  9. Mercyrose busies herself with soothing Longinus, whispering down to him. “Oh, don’t bother with that wicked questioner and her evil Rhythms, she ain’t worth it, y’know?” At Mercyrose’s behest, Longinus turns away to resume the journey into the unknown.
  10. Mercyrose seems to consider for a moment, confused at this new sensation she felt. And heard. Longinus heard, too. The ordinarily lethargic creature snaps to attention. He turns in a moment towards Kjaras-Dor. His almost glazed over eyes full of energy. His jaws open, a wicked display of jagged death, and something within him begins to pull at Kjaras-Dor. Her Soothe begins to die, a stream of Investiture leaving her and entering Longinus’ maw.
  11. “Nope,” Mercyrose says cheerily. “Kept to our deal to the letter. Actually, I answered two questions, didn’t I? Forty minutes to go!”
  12. Mercyrose points an accusatory finger at Kjaras-Dor. “You agreed to the deal. Ya got twenty minutes before you can ask another, nerd!”
  13. She makes a show of thinking, finger to her chin. “Hmm. Nah, no thanks. There are plenty of spren ‘round to bother.”
  14. “Spren’re spirits. Sometimes they’re gods, sometimes they’re just little guys, like Pulse,” Mercyrose answers. “Longinus ain’t a spren. Hims a lanceryn.”
  15. “Gosh, lady, you’re talking my ear off,” Mercyrose complains. “How about, I answer one question, and then you hold off on ‘em for like, twenty minutes?”
  16. The girl begins to hum, happily ignoring the prattling of the weird lady beneath her. She occasionally sends a lazy swipe at flashing apparitions shaped like glowing white arrowheads.
