wait what? I finished the book last night and somehow missed this entirely!
I feel that. It was in the MeLaan epilogue, while she was sailing through Shadesmar. I heard red hair and thought, 'oh who could they be?' Racked my brains and couldn't think of anything. Makes sense though.

I've seen a thread talking about the "For Ado's Sake" thing, back when RoW first came out.
It talks about Bo-Ado-Mishrim, and how that was probably what Roboniel was talking about, which would make sense, because BAM caused the False Desolation, and was one of the most important unmade.
That's what I personally think is what the Ado thing is.

I love how there was an entire conversation about whether or not BS is a household name, and about how he has to work on other books and how it takes him so long to get cosmere books, and then Brandon just announces that he wrote 5 storming books in his free time a year later, 3 of which were cosmere.
Then proceeds to get the most funded kickstarter ever.
In under a week

I was just reading through and saw this
On 7/21/2021 at 6:25 AM, Child of Hodor said:The OP isn't wrong. I doubt he'll finish the Cosmere saga. With both his Cosmere and non-Comsere works he tends to expand on what he originally thought he'd write. Brandon "I accidently wrote an entire book" Sanderson. MB Era 2 wasn't even going to exist then it was 1 book, then 3, now 4. Skyward is not only a book, but 4 books and here's a ton of novellas. Reckoners is done, maybe a novella, actually I wrote so many novellas it's a full novel.
In light of recent announcements this is funnier than I can say.

You know you're a good author when you write five books in secret and have your fans pay for them within minutes of announcing it.

The problem with Light being the magic system is that there could be hundreds of thousands of different Lights. This is kind of like with allomantic metals. This thread shows a progression of numbers as people slowly realized there were billions of trillions of metals. The same thing could be done with Lights

Ok, a bit of explanation for the title:
While aimlessly scrolling through the shard, I saw a random thread about pairing Cosmere powers, and the thought came to me, If a misting/mistborn became a Knight Radiant, would they be able to use Stormlight as a replacement for metals?
It sounds a little out there, but Kelsier is trying to find a way to get Stormlight off Roshar.
Feel free to shoot this down in any way you can

@elsoberanok, the problem with Kelsier vs. Dalinar is that there is a redemption arc for Dalinar already. He has accepted that he was a bad person. Kelsier, on the other hand, has not (as far as I know) admitted that the murders he committed were bad. Dalinar has forgiven himself. Kelsier has practically admitted that the only reason he killed the nobles was because he hated them. He even enjoyed killing them. Dalinar was under the influence of the Thrill, and he felt horrible about the Rift, so much so that he became a drunkard for years.

If being Topaz has anything to do with it, then why was it made worthless by Hoid wearing it?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is a reference to the "Topaz":
Quote"Another time, I was named for a rock."
"A pretty one, I hope."
"A beautiful one," [Hoid] said. "And one that became completely worthless for my wearing it."
Again, I may be wrong.
But if I'm not, what is Hoid talking about?

I just have to point out one thing:
Somewhere near the beginning (I don't remember exactly) there was a discussion about when Szeth became truthless, and I have an answer that I don't think was brought up. In tWoK, in the Rysn interlude, it is mentioned that Vstim had gotten a truthless from the shin seven years previously. I'm fairly certain that that truthless is Szeth.
Also, more on the current topic of seons, what does Ala mean as an Aon? That could be a hint.

I had the most random idea that I want to see happen. I want to see something where all of Kaladin's friends are trying to cheer him up, and just break into song using the live action Beauty and the Beast's song "Gaston". I do need to figure out some lines still, but this is what I've come up with so far (spoilerized for size):
Spoiler[Syl(maybe):] Gosh, it disturbs me to see you, Kal'din
Looking so down in the dumps
Every guy here'd love to be you, Kal'din
Even when taking your lumps
There's no man in town as admired as you
You're everyone's favorite guy
Everyone's awed and inspired by you
And it's not very hard to see why
No one's [ ] as Kal'din
No one's [ ] as Kal'din
No one's [ ] as Gaston
For there's no man in town half as manly
[Random Lighteyed women:] Perfect, a pure paragon
[Syl(Maybe):] You can ask any Skar, Maps or Dunny
And they'll tell you whose team they'd prefer to be on
Who plays [ ] like Kal'din
Who breaks [ ] like Kal'din
Who's much more than the sum of his parts, like Kal'din
[Rock:] As a specimen, yes, he's intimidating
[Crowd:] My, what a guy, that Gaston
[Teft:] He needs more encouragement; hurry, Adolin!
[Adolin:] Well, there's no one as easy to bolster as him![Adolin runs off]
[Crowd:] No one fights like Kal'din
Douses lights like Kal'din
[Syl(Maybe):] In a sparing match nobody fights like Kal'din
[Teft:] When he fights he comes up with a shardblade
And foes in the fight say a prayer
He goes up and [something that rhymes with shardblade]
Then he fights to the death
[Skar:] Is he fair?
[Teft:] Everywhere
[Crowd:] No one hits like Kal'din
Matches Wit like Kal'din
[Syl(maybe):] In a hitting match, nobody hits like Kal'din
[Teft:] He's especially good at the sucker punching!
[Crowd:] Ten points for Gaston!
[Teft:] When he was a lad he ate four dozen eggs
Every morning to help him get large
And now that he's grown he eats five dozen eggs
So he's roughly the size of a barge!
[Skar:] Who has brains like Kal'din
Entertains like Kal'din
[Adolin comes sliding in with more encouragement]
[Adolin:] Who can make up these endless refrains, for Kal'din
I use Stormlight in all of my decorating
[Crowd:] Say it again
Who's a man among men?
Who's a super success?
Don't you know? Can't you guess?
Ask his fans and all his hangers-on
There's just one guy in town
Who's got all of it down
[Skar:] And his name's K-A-L-A[Skar:] D
[Skar: ]I believe there's another D
It just occurred to me that I'm illiterate
And I've never actually had to spell it out loud before
[Crowd:] KALADIN!
Original lyrics from the live action Beauty and the BeastI've made it so that Kaladin (which is 3 syllables) is Kal'din (which matches Gaston in syllables).

I don't believe that this would happen, as Brandon has already done something like this in (Spoilers)
SpoilerMistborn when Sazed becomes Harmony.
It's too similar and isn't very good writing, which is not what Brandon does.

I'm not sure if Ishar would make Syl human, but I did find something in Words of Radiance that got me thinking. In WoR Kaladin keeps mentioning that he's afraid that the lighteyes could somehow take away his powers / connection with Syl. He recognizes the irrationality and there is of course the whole issue of whether he would hold to his oaths, but it made me wonder whether or not this could be foreshadowing of Ishar stealing Kaladin's connection with Syl, which could of course be related to him making Syl human.
Way to bring the discussion back on topic
All I have to say is that this was the most fascinating digression I've ever seen

This is a cool theory! One line of the prophecy in particular reminds me of something from the back of WoK, where it says
QuoteOne of them may redeem us.
And one of them will destroy us.
which sounds like this line:
On 8/31/2021 at 7:22 PM, Theldragor said:The Hero will have the power to save the world. But he will also have the power to destroy it.
I'm not sure if I think this will actually be the case, it does fit rather nicely.

I may be wrong, but I feel like somewhere in RoW Raboniel told Navani that Raysium was just what the Fused called aluminum

This might not be an original thought, but I didn't see it anywhere, so, here goes:
On Scadrial, aluminum gets rid of all metals in a Mistborn. On Roshar, aluminum stops a paired fabrial from being connected briefly. On Scadrial, duralumin enhances a Mistborn's powers greatly. On Roshar, duralumin could be used to enhance a paired fabrial, such as the Fourth Bridge. I believe that if duralumin was used on, say, Fourth Bridge while it was flying, whenever the Shattered Plains gemstone moved a foot, the Fourth Bridge would move forward many times that, greatly enhancing the speed.
(Sorry if my Scadrial information isn't accurate, I haven't read all of the Mistborn books yet. I'm working on it)
EDIT:
I have more evidence to support my theory:
QuoteWith a captured spren, you may begin designing a proper fabrial. It is a closely guarded secret of artifabrians that spren, when trapped, respond to different types of metals in different ways. A wire housing for the fabrial, called a “cage,” is essential to controlling the device.
The two metals of primary significance are zinc and brass, which allow you to control expression strength. Zinc wires touching the gemstone will cause the spren inside to more strongly manifest, while brass will cause the spren to withdraw and its power to dim.
A bronze cage can create a warning fabrial, alerting one to objects or entities nearby. Heliodors are being used for this currently, and there is some good reasoning for this—but other gemstones should be viable.
A pewter cage will cause the spren of your fabrial to express its attribute in force—a flamespren, for example, will create heat. We call these augmenters. They tend to use Stormlight more quickly than other fabrials.
An iron cage will create an attractor—a fabrial that draws specific elements to itself. A properly created smoke fabrial, for example, can gather the smoke of a fire and hold it close.
-Lecture on fabrial mechanics presented by Navani Kholin to the coalation of monarchs, Urithiru, Jesevan, 1175
Rhythm of War, Part One, Epigraphs
That's kind of long, so I will break it down a bit, and explain.
QuoteThe two metals of primary significance are zinc and brass, which allow you to control expression strength. Zinc wires touching the gemstone will cause the spren inside to more strongly manifest, while brass will cause the spren to withdraw and its power to dim.
This is interesting, because in Allomancy, using zinc causes emotions to more strongly manifest, and using brass will cause emotions to withdraw.
QuoteA bronze cage can create a warning fabrial, alerting one to objects or entities nearby.
This is a bit more of a stretch than the last one, but in Allomancy, bronze allows a person to see if someone is using Allomancy nearby. It is similar to a warning fabrial, though the fabrial is more general.
QuoteA pewter cage will cause the spren of your fabrial to express its attribute in force—a flamespren, for example, will create heat. We call these augmenters.
Pewter, in Allomancy, augments the phisical attributes of a person burning it, similar to the fabrial.
QuoteAn iron cage will create an attractor—a fabrial that draws specific elements to itself. A properly created smoke fabrial, for example, can gather the smoke of a fire and hold it close.
The iron cage is very similar to what happens when a person burns iron in Allomancy for it can pull on nearby sources of metal.
There are other metal cages mentioned, but they aren't as apparently similar as these five. However, I feel that this is plenty of evidence that duralumin would enhance a fabrial, maybe even not just paired fabrials. Perhaps if it was used on a heat fabrial, for example, it would make the fabrial give of many times more heat than it normaly would. Thoughts?

Thanks! I'd say my favorite Sanderson character is Kaladin, from the Way of Kings, which is my favorite book.
