I have been trying to figure out why those Tukari dudes attacked Notum in Shadesmar, that wasn't ever explicitly explained.

I am theorizing that they were abducting spren for Ishar's nightmare evil scientist experiments.

I would love to hear any theories y'all have. What is Ishar doing and why? What the crem is going on in Tukar??

I think that is the the likely explanation. It is likely Ishar is trying to merge the Cognitive with the Physical.

Vivenna notes the girl’s Breath ‘flickered’, like it was slightly damaged. It really does fit well with what we see here. Sneaky Brandon! Foreshadowing in a (technically) different series.

Now that you've pointed it out I definitely see the correlation. There is a lot more happening in this epilogue than we probably know because Hoid specifically mentions the picking apart of an illusion. So perhaps everything that followed was a performance piece be Hoid. Although thorongil pointed out the Coin is definely important to the scene and it most likely his backup in case anything went wrong.

Perhaps the larger question to the scene is why is Hoid inviting Odium to find him in the first place. It's clearly purposeful. The obvious answer is he wants to see what Odium's reaction is to him after the contract and how far Rayse was willing to go. All of this just leaves me excited to see where this will go with T-Odium who is clearly willing to do anything so long as he believes it is for the greater good in his own mind. should make for an exciting Book 5.

It IS in Warbreaker. We see something similar happen in a scene there. This could indicate that Breath naturally acts as repository for storing Connection to one’s past experiences, since I doubt that little girl was doing anything intentionally.

Although I always thought that part of the investiture was that there needed to be some type consent to allow your breaths to be taken or changed. Now I'm not sure that matters when an actual Shard is involved. I did find it funny that Hoid stated that he felt something off about his perfect pitch. I'm not sure it's explicitly stated that any breaths were taken away just that he's aware that something is happening.

There is actually. Vasher gets a girl to wipe part of her memory by altering her Breath. It’s the scene where he rescued the Priest’s daughter.

I had actually forgotten about that part. So I stand corrected on that point.

  5. Hi everyone,

I am new here but I have a few thoughts on the epilogue and why Brandon may have been so excited to write it.

1.) I do not believe Hoid stores memories in his Breaths, at all. If you've read Warbreaker then there is no mention of memories being stored there. I think it's entirely possible that this information was planted by Hoid in case something happened to the actual vessel of Odium. Even Hoid alludes to this be saying he felt someone messing with his perfect pitch. I think that is a purposeful statement to let the reader know that he realized he's being messed with and it's just his perfect pitch.

2.) He alludes to his "real" coin that was palmed in his hand. I believe this is actually referring to the coppermind Coin that Hoid gives away.

3.) The differences in speech as well, as others have pointed out indicate that Hoid knew perfectly well that something was amiss.

I could be wrong but that was how it seemed to me.
