I was telling my wife (who just finished OB for the first time this week) that if there is a spectrum between magical technology and engineering technology that shards, soulcasters, and other "surge" fabrials seem more magical whereas fabrials like spanreeds or heating fabrials seem more engineered. In addition to being much more recent developments too, the engineering ones have something to do with the spren. This connection led to the pun in the title for this new fabrial science.

Hopefully this can become a field of study some day when there are universities and PhD programs on Roshar. And a fun word for the fan lexicon in the mean while

Also should I have a spoiler tag since the connection between spren an fabrials isn't explicit until OB? (or other pointers since this is basically my first post?)

It was way harder than I thought it would be! I mean, making a palindrome: it doesn’t sound to hard... but then you try it, and I at least couldn’t get it to work for a while.

How much have I read? Basically everything published (*cough* multiple times *cough*) except for Alcatraz and most of what is on the website. It’s hard to stop!

Order TBD. I feel like we know so little about most of them still. That said the Dalinar’s paths resonate with me more than, say, Szeth’s.

Favorite Cosmere work might be the Emperor’s Soul, actually. Or Oathbringer.

With that title, the obligatory comment is "I joined Shard!" (finally). I was lucky enough that yesterday was the 16th when I thought of this title.

Name is an allusion to my favorite Hearthstone flashback and a wink to a similar sounding set of names in our family.
