    Lego M-Bot

Thanks for the positive feedback!  ^_^  For me, it's always the moving parts that take a Lego model from cool to awesome.

It took me several tries to find a design for the acclivity ring that I was happy with.  At first I tried to go for function, then I went for form, but it was all either too clunky or too fragile, so I finally settled on something in the middle.  The cockpit windshield, though, is all form.  It doesn't open unless you pry it off with your fingernails. :P  I also wanted to make the pilot's chair swivel, but that made the cockpit section too tall and bulky, so I scrapped that idea.

  1. Wow.  I really like the colors you used for this scene, and the pattern of light and shadows, and...

I dunno, I'm not enough of an artist to identify exactly what I like about it.  Just, really good work, here.  I'm sending approval in your direction.

Has it been confirmed seals NEED to look like this, with specific lines needed to function and do certain things ORRRR is it up to the Forgers art style and will change person to person, as long as they have the intent and power.

It's been a while since I've read The Emperor's Soul and I can't find a WoB about it specifically, but I'm pretty sure that every Forgery Seal must have a design representing MaiPon in order to work (just like Aons need to have a representation of Arelon).
I... uh... did not include any such representation of MaiPon in my seal.  Oops.  (Shai would be rolling her eyes right now, I'm sure. ;)

Beyond that, IIRC from the story, I'd say seals would require specific lines to function correctly, judging by the years of study that Shai underwent to become as skilled in Forgery as she is (and judging by the fact that all magic on Sel is form-based).  That said, each Forger might be able to draw those lines in different styles (thickness, length, embellishment, etc), and I don't doubt that Intent and the Forger's innate power are a big part of the Seal's effectiveness.  So, some of both, I guess, but mostly specific lines.

No clue, but it's really good art!

    Thank you! ^_^

  3. This is definitely Lift -- would have recognized her even without a caption.  Awesome artwork!  One thing though: at first glance (and second glance for me), one of the Wyndle-vines looks like it's growing directly out of the loaf of bread that Lift's holding.  If you ever come back to this sketch, maybe consider adjusting it a bit so that the bread's silhouette doesn't overlap with anything else.

Just call me the bread advocate.  "Loaf before death. Knead before weakness. Bake until destination (golden-brown)."

  4. This is fantastic.  I love how you've painted him in shadow (at least, that's the impression I get), since Renarin is constantly in the shadow of his father, brother, cousins, and his own illness. And his expression is just... just... I don't have the words.  You've captured Renarin perfectly, in my opinion.  Well done!
