Honestly, I like the collection's cover the best out of all the Skyward books so far. I've read them, but now I want to own them just to have that cover.

I think the blank Connection question was easily answered by being Identity-less.
Shai specifically says that connection is tied to your Identity, so if a person were to store their Identity (or blank it out in some other way), then it makes sense to me that their Connection would be blank as well. While in this Identity-less state, they store this blank Connection into the duralumin. So any unkeyed duralumin-mind would have to have blank Connection by necessity.
I agree with @Chaos that the default is NOT blank, that if a duralumin Ferring stored Connection normally, with their Identity intact, then it would be a "flavored" Connection. As for whether they store ALL of their Connections or just one of them, I'm not sure.

Warbreaker Spoilers
SpoilerWhile Unmaking was being discussed, my thoughts kept coming back to Command Breaking...
Is this what Command Breaking is? Using excess Breaths to dissect the Breath that powers a Lifeless? To Splinter it into useless pieces, then shove new Breath(s) into the corpse with a new Command?
I haven't finished the episode yet, so if this is discussed later, oops. Had to say it while it was on my mind.

Ooh! I have my own hot take theory. Interlude spoilers though, so watch out:
SpoilerThe Eila Stele mentions that the Singers were prohibited or forbidden from using the Surges. Syl says that a Bondsmith bound the Surges. Maybe, what if... a Singer Bondsmith, under Honor's command, bound the Surges into the Dawnshards and then cast them out of Roshar. The Ashynites then found them and like normal humans, destroyed themselves.
Anyway, but I am also in the camp that the Dawnshards became the Unmade.
Either the Dawnshards were made and then Odium tried to destroy them, but only ended up twisting them.
OR!!
Odium made the Dawnshards on Ashyn and Honor tried to unmake them to protect Roshar!!

That almost works! But who knows is Chemoarish fits that. Pretty cool idea though.
Ah yes... Forgot about the Dustmother....

Correct me if I'm wrong, (I haven't finished the pod cast) but don't the three mindless Unmade have no hyphens (one segment names)? And then the semi-intelligent ones have two segments in their names? And then Ba-Ado-Mishram has 3 segments to it's name? And it sounds like it's the most powerful Unmade? (Sorry about spelling)
My theory is that the hyphenation denotes level of intelligence.... Can anyone support or disprove this? I lent my copy of OB to a friend.
Edit: level of intelligence and perhaps power
