  1. The thing is the book itself disagrees with you... ''Radiant said. “We’ve been dancing around a decision for months, ever since those days we spent in the chasms with Stormblessed. I’ve begun to consider that a relationship between two Knights Radiant is likely to accomplish a more equitable union.” The book tries to says that most of the characters involved took it seriously the entire time, but to me it only really showed in Adolin. The fact that this ''struggle'' was barely shown at all and culminated in just a couple glances is my complaint. Neither of them ever even acknowledged to eachother what was going on... IF this is the end then it was really clumsly done and inevitably pointless, imo.
  2. Thats a lot more reasonable a critism, but i still think pulling the carpet from underneath your audience like that is a cheap trick. It was just so abrupt... One moment both Veil and Radiant are ready to jump on to Kaladin then a few pages later Adolin and Shallan are getting married?!? Honestly, I don't even know if I want Shallan and Kaladin together, but this just isnt a good way of ending this plotline (which is why i hope it isnt over). Especially when listing off listing Adolins good qualities the fact that he's attractive is both the first and last thing she mentions... I don't think this relationship is fair to adolin either lol. edit: I just think there needs to at the very least be some closure for me to accept Adolin and Shallan. ''I'm an artist, Adolin. I appreciate a nice picture when I see one'', come on... is this a joke??
  3. No offense, but I think you're missing the point of why tropes are bad in the first place. what makes the most thematic sense is much more important. And as you said the narrative has been pointing to this for most of the series and contradicting your own narrative just to dodge a ''trope'' is just bad writing... I really don't think thats what Sanderson is doing and I just hope there will be a more satisfying end to this later on.
  4. There's going to be a 1 year time skip between oathbringer and the next book. How much of Shallans past she admits to him (if at all) will be a good indicator of where their relationship is at. Personally I'd prefer if my bride told me about her habit of killing family members before getting married, but I think Adolin will accept it. It's just a matter of how much faith she actually has in him.
  5. Apparently its possible for parsh people and humans to have children, but I really dont think that would be a happy or plausible relationship for either of them lol. also I was under the impression that Venli bonded with an ashpren thus making her a Dustbringer.
  6. I think I nice Willshaper girl is just what Kaladin needs. Theyre said to be very adventurous, but irresponsable (which I just translate to as being easy-going). A drama-free romance with a fun loving care-free gal is just what a moody and solemn guy like Kaladin needs. Also Im assuming that Willshapers are good at motivating people based on their name. We saw spiritual adhesion in OB so maybe some spiritual cohesion will happen next? lol
  7. To me by far the most annoying thing about this situation is that Shallan and Kaladin never really talked to eachother... not a single time. After waiting the entire book, Shallan has the chance on the battlements, but instead she waves then RUNS AWAY. Next thing I know she tells Adolin that all her drooling over Kaladin was just her ''being an artist'' and pushes the rest on to veil, then they're married! If this is the end then I really dont understand what the point of all this was. Is Sanderson trying to make parallels to the Gavilar/Navani/Dalinar relationship by making Shallan afraid of Kaladin and going with the safe option instead? Either way all of this really isnt worth it, imo. I would have prefered if kaladin and shallan had just stayed friends from the start. On a side note I'm impressed how maturely Adolin handled this, even if I do think he and Shallans relationship is pretty shallow.
  8. Honor's remenants just don't have the same sort of moral authority that Odium does (especially now that Odium has essentially won against him). I think the reason he's ignoring Cultivation is because she doesn't seem to have any concern over how men govern themselves, but its hard to say since we really dont know anything about her at the moment. Maybe she'll be how they get some of the older Skybreakers on the side of humanity. Nightblood should really write a book to help all these morally confused Rosharians. The Way of Swords maybe?
  9. I think some people misunderstood Nale's reasoning for joining Odium's forces. I kinda missed it too at first, but it's not that he never knew that the singers were the orginal owners of the Roshar, he and the other heralds have always known. The Stormfather even says that the truth was well known among the radiants at some point. Nale's view of justice is very feudal and he bases government legitimacy on divine right. Before he could ignore the fact that Roshar belongs to the singers, because Honor supported the humans. Now that Honor is gone, Odium is the #1 authority on Roshar (according to Nale by right of conquest). The same way a conqueror/Usurper can impose laws on his new subjects a god can do the same and impose his will. This is why Nale worked so hard to stop the desolation from starting again, now that Odium and the singers have returned all human governments (that dont side with odium) are officially illegitimate. He knew that he wouldnt be able to fight for the humans without contradicting his previous oaths as a skybreaker. However, at the same time he realises that he isnt the same as he once was and that, even if appearing logical, his reasoning may be flawed. This is why he gives Szeth the choice of swearing his 3rd Ideal to Dalinar. Nale's decision here makes a lot of sense if you agree with intial premises. And I think it really highlights the flaws in Honors shard in following bonds and oaths for the sake of it even when it ends up undermining the oaths original purpose. Personally I'm with Nighblood on this ''Don't be stupid, lets go fight those guys''.
